I was just trying substancepainter and wondering a few things
Can you fill a selection with a material instead of just a color?
Can i disable the cubemap showing in the background while still having it light the mesh?
Is there a symmetry option for painting?

I can help with your first question, but it's not ideal yet;
Go to File / Import Image and select bitmap/material you want to use
Click on the Stencil icon on the left column (third one down)
Over in the right column under Material - basic, click on Separate Channels Mode and select the image you just loaded.
You can now paint on your object using this as a stencil.
Maybe someone else has a better method, but as of now this is the only way I know. Like I said, NOT IDEAL. But, I'm sure we'll see fill functions in the coming weeks.
