Author Topic: Normal map issue from Substance Painter to Marmoset Toolbag 3 - image available  (Read 1246 times)

Hi i am having a normal map issue that I can't solve

Please provide more information. We don't know where you baked the maps. Also if you're baking make sure you're using mikkt, and make sure the mesh have been triangulated prior to maintain consistency.
I teach people how to use Substance Painter. :)

In general you want to convert to tris for baking because meshes can convert to tris differently per application, and your normal map wont match.

As soon as I triangulated the low poly mesh at export, before baking it in SP, the NM came out well at a first glance. However, I now run in to another issue as show in the image. Mikk/xNormal is used in all cases. I'v tried flipping Y but that's not the solution.

Could smoothing groups affect Normal Map? Any idea?

Just SOLVED! Had to uncheck Normals as they interfere with NM and SmoothingGroups from 3DsMax to Marmoset TB. Hope to help others as well with this observation.
