i have a gun modeled in maya, i have done the uvs of the sepearate parts (8 parts), how do i bake the id maps? Do i have to seperately bake id maps for each or can i combine it and then bake the maps? i dont want so many layers in my substance.

The only thing you have to do is apply different color shaders to the geometry you want. Then, baking in substance with the mesh with the shaders like "high mesh"
