Author Topic: Substance Painter 2 to Maya Problem  (Read 3582 times)

So i am working on an environment scene and i have come across a problem which i cannot find that is similar. So i have 2 objects, two different types of textures in two different substance painter projects. I finished the textures and ready to export them out. When i go back into maya, using the renderer Renderman i have the objects in the scene and they have one surface shaders for each. One for a chain and the other a lantern when i plug in the base material in the color for the lantern and the chain i press render and the chain is using the right texture but somehow the lantern is using the same texture as the chain

Even when i go to the file and it says it is the lantern texture but when i render it is the chain texture it is using.

So this may be a weird question, but what could be the problem?

Ok so just to be clear about what i said

This is what i exported out, i did another scene that is the same as this for the lantern

This is 2 different objects with two different shaders both pxrsurface shaders

I throw in my first texture that is the lantern object in my scene

This is just the base color, nothing else is put in and i have want a want!

Now i will just put in a second texture in and this is the second object in the scene and it is a chain link i made

Now, this is the problem. When i click render, the texture on the lantern just took over and the chain is using the lantern texture. Just two base materials, two different shaders and i am using renderman.

Now i had this problem for a while now not just in this scene but in past side projects, and would still happen both at my uni and at home. Idk if it is a Maya/renderman problem or a substance painter 2 problem hopefully i will get the answer i will need so i can move on and finish the environment. And also something every texture works except Substance painter 2 textures

Hi,

It looks like there is an issue with the material assignment. Just to make sure I am understanding, you have 2 meshes and when you assign the textures, one of the maps is being set to both objects? Do you have 2 separate materials on both objects?

Don't worry, iv'e managed to figure it out. The way i exported the textures was wrong on substance painter 2 and for some reason broke when i put it into Maya, thanks for the help anyways
