Not sure what to do about this issue. but I also got an error as well. I didn't export yet, this was when I was making my graph, early on. Thanks.

Hi,

We have a bug with this node so this error is "normal". We do our best to release a fix quickly !

Thanks !

I been getting this as well, never did before, but in Substance Designer 6, I have as of late. So I take it , it was never fixed?  if not, what do we do here?

Hi, I own Modo indie...I also own Maya, Full and Max Full...Substance is fine for both Maya and Max.... but Modo indie, any time I add a substance material it crashes modo .. I have to remove Substance all together to be able to open that file again... So I tried on about 10 others..SO this clearly is a substance issue... The last update for Modo Substance  , is substance 2.1. ...I know Modo indie is always behide, kinda like Unity.....but this is getting out of hand fella's  ...

Two tools I like the most, are broke with Substance... UGH.. even though I own Maya AND Max, I like Modo.. for modeling, and texturing... So any idea what is going on with Modo indie? and Substance??? Thanks.!

I been talking to asset developers to re-add support to there assets, they are stating, they can't yet, do not being able to add #define and other aspects. So when you do plan to open this up so asset developers can start re-adding support to Unity......

I asked on Discord and was ignored. So it would be great to get some information here...

Hi,

I'm sorry I missed this on discord. We definitely want to work with you guys to provide you with the workflow you need. We are also working with Unity in this regard as they are aware of the issues the external plugin poses to asset store developers. Unity has some ideas on ways to handle this and hopefully they will share more information soon.

Please let us know more about what we can do to do help. I think the idea is to have some #defines so that if an asset needs substance plugin, it will notify the user. Is that correct? I will present this to the dev team and we will be able to look at all the options we have.

Cheers,
wes

Hi Wes, so I asked for an update, and I was rudely met with, we shouldn't expect plug ins to be supported and work??? By Jerc on Discord   So I was told by three of you that this was being looked into it...This is a big deal for experienced developers of Unity...So I been a huge suppprter of Substance ask anyone. I own all of your tools since day 1. and I use many engines...I was told Unity is a supported engine and we would get what we need to do our jobs...I make my living this way...How do you guys expect to keep selling substance...if we are getting meet with restrictions?    Its either A we toss Unity , or Substance??  I mean, Unreal I don't have this issue... If you guys told us, Unity would never get this.... My company would of ditched Unity, or Substance....Now we are thousands of dollars in...and I get a rude comment by Jerc... on Discord, that we shouldn't expect this to be working??? what.. I'm total amazed  and lost...  He said your getting  all sorts of flake...and rightly so....  Stop saying you guys will support Unity then....if you are NOT going to...This is a slap in the face and developers are tired of wasting money and time, we have a business to run as well.....Very disappointed by this behavior and commented ........... He could of said, we decided we aren't supporting and that is it...

So you guys lied to get sales?? I hate to assume..but I no longer will support Substance by this behavior and I think other Unity users that know I been a huge suppporter should know..about this, so they to do not waste time and money... if this is how we are being treated..

You guys wonder why you getting flake... LOL... wow.... Not a great way to run a business... So you guys are all over the place on what your doing with Unity..... that is messed up and your causing many problems for people with assets being made...to people using them...to using Substance....Very disappointed .....   We never asked for you to make anything , we just want the same support we always had with 2017.....with shaders..and Jerc acted like that is to much to ask??? when other engines always had this ..Unity always has issues......so that is why Thought you guys took over to fix this issue, but I see that isn't going to happen.  You guys, and Unity have lost people over this, so you know, I know many investors that left and had enough...
.  /rant off.

PS. Very sad Substance is a great tool, but I have to worry about my business as well, and seeing investors run, from Unity and Substance is a bad sign...

Thanks Wes you have been helpful, and I appreciate it the years I used Substance.

Yes from what I was told from one of the asset devs, I have not looked into it myself yet for my own stuff, but I was hoping to see this for asset devs as we  use a few for our new and up coming Steam game. So any info would be great  as I won't be using 2018, until we have Substance support for some of our terrain assets we are using.  If an asset dev does not add it I plan to myself.   So soon as we can, this would be wonderful.   but Jason from Mega Splats and Micro Splats, had replied to me about not being able to add #Define.     See  the thread here:   https://forum.unity.com/threads/released-megasplat-a-256-texture-splat-mapping-system.441329/page-82

Jason's reply  : "The new addon doesn't have a way to script imports like the old system, nor does it add #define's so you can add support for it in an asset. So not unless they add that stuff.."

again I have not looked into this myself for my own stuff. I just checked into this for a terrain asset we use for our game for now. Thanks.

Again I have not looked into this myself as I been slammed with work, but I plan to if you need more information .

Now this is weird it even does it when I save the image... Now i'm confused, if you look at the image you will see the normal invert... Which makes no sense to me.  Never seen this before. with any program.... and I use a lot of them for many years..

This happens only in the Display.  The right side normals are fine. but you can see them changing, it does this all the time.  always has. Which throws me off when working.

be sure to look at it for a few mins, you will see it change. it even does it in the screen shot which I find to be odd as well.

23
I noticed when I use Invert Gray Scale .  In the view port of my normal and height   it changed with out me doing much, it throws me off a lot, I have to zoom in and out for it to correct itself, but it does it like every few mins, or more, its pretty annoying. I have seen this with every substance I have made for the past year when I use invert gray scale or invert .  Is this going to be fixed?? or is there a work around. Its pretty annoying.

So basically in the  view port, it will show inverted one way and pushed out.. like if you where making the change your self  with the node....when I'm not.   I hope that makes sense.

Thanks!

Hi, can I add fur on the clothes in Maya? Do we need to create an environment for the statue? And can I render the scene in Maya (Arnold) ?

First question, not sure...I know in MD you can make fur, hair etc in it, but .....ya most use Maya or some other 3d program.  Number 2, no we do not...  3, in the rules it says we need to render in Substance Painter, there is a free shot, so not sure what that means,  other than we can render in anything ....  but devs will need to finish answering those, as I'm unsure so hopefully they do as I would like to know as well.

Render have to be done in SP. That what we'll evaluate

As far as Free shot then, what do you mean by free shot?

26
I must of missed it about the bow and arrow part as I been trying to find out if we can remove it, thanks for showing this...

* 1 Basic Shot: Rendered image using Iray in Substance Painter with the size of the 3D model and angles as close as possible facing the camera. You must use Tomoco Studio, the default environment map in Substance Painter
* 1 Free Shot: Unleash your creativity and imagination: you can change environment maps, camera angles, weathering, and more in this shot.

The rendering has to be done in SP, it shows that in the rules. That part.  Unless the free shot can be.. not sure.

I was reading the rules, and submissions, but I was unsure on where we submit our work once we are complete. are we allowed to combine the two ?

Last are we allowed to export, and do anything in Photoshop at all?

 Thanks.

Nope for the both questions

what about the first one about submissions? where do we submit. Just on this thread or some where else? it wasn't 100% clear. It said we could post on all sorts of sites, but I didn't see where to submit . Thanks.!
