Hi,
Please see attached message that appears every time I open a .sbs file.
Is there any way to update the whole .sbs database in (1) shot?

Please advise,
Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,

Please see strange image with a cutout on the box after applying a gamma map starting with substance in to gamma map then connected to A&D Diffuse.

I would prefer not to disable the gamma in settings because most materials come in fine with my 1.8 setting.

Please advise,
Sandra

Hi,
Can Quicksilver render Substance Designer materials in 3ds Max?
Currently when I use Quicksilver renderer on my Substance materials in Max 2014, they come out completely white?

It would be great if I could use Quicksilver rendering for quick color studies?

Thanks in advance for any info and or settings I may need in Max to render Substances in Quicksilver?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Jeremie,
The error message only appears with standard materials not A&D.
Yes, it does still render.

Attached is a photo and when I changed the driver from Nitrous Direct 3D 11 to direct3d 9.0 the material shows more accurately in the scene and the problem would still be how to address visually in Slate?    I hope that their is a way to get Substance materials to look close in Substance Player and in Max, so I know when I import them in to Max I will know what to expect?

Please advise and note with with the previous version, I had to reset a setting in Max in the substance material settings to make the materials look the same in both programs.  Do you remember the setting?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,

(2) questions.

1. Just loaded the cherry wood sbsar file in to 3ds Max and it does not look accurate or compare to what I see in Substance Designer?

2. An error message is displayed when I render the cherry Wood substance as follows:
205 MB error: Texture map "Map #58  ( Map Output Selector )" is not supported by mental ray and will not render

Please advise,
Sandra

Hi Jeremie,

Thank you for both responses. Again it is fabulous that I can see the database textures in the library.

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Jeremie,

The 1st question was about missing anything in the library because I am not pointing to my local C? I am not familiar with the program enough to know if something is missing because my preferences are missing a link to my local C.
Based on what you see is there any links that should be there besides the .sbs library?

Question (2).
When you say tag the properties of each material in their graphs would you please give me an example like in the case of the Abstract folder that only has a few materials?  I would like to get the all of those materials in the same Abstract folder in my library.

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,
Now that my materials library have most of the database images on my Network, does the edit preferences still need any other pointers on the Local C drive?

Please note that I kept having Conflicts when the preferences was pointing to both the local C drive .3X and my mapped M drive on the network.  Once I got rid of the local C drive all of it worked out and now I don't know if I may be missing something in the program because I have no pointer to the Local C under edit preferences?

Question 2

Once I filter the Materials and want to add more filters to that folder,  all images disappear?
ie...,  Take the folder in the database called Abstract and I start with a filter Cubes and it shows up as it should.  Now if I add another filter to my Abstract folder called energy all textures disappear.  It's like I would have to keep adding folders to selections or rename each item the database folder to have the same prefix?

Please advise,

Attached is my edited preferences please let me know if I need any additional pointers here for the program.

Thanks,
Sandra

Update:

I got it all working. I decided to move the network material location to the host's Solid State C drive and now the materials show up instantly.

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,

I had everything set up where all of my textures were found on the network path etc.., as I was attempting to get the Simple Material Template I ended up removing the paths in the edit preferences and when I went reset to defaults my Bitmap2Material was not under 1Click?

1.  Please advise as a Windows 7 64 bit User what default paths should be in the edit preferences for the program?

2. I noticed that some of my filters were defaulting to the program location database and some were going where I wanted them to on the Network,
Please advise how to AVOID Conflict with the program's sbs database and the sbs database on the network?

Thanks,
Sandra
ps..., I was so close the only last thing that I had to do was get that Simple Material Template in there.

Good to know that it looks correct:)  I typed in GrungeMap and all of them are showing up!  I also created a filter for bricks etc...,

The newer version is so much better than the older version, and it's so convenient to see the textures in the linked database.

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi Jeremie,
What I have is the Bitmap2Material Light and the Grunge Kit further down I created myself with a folder and a link to the network in the preference editor.

Please note under noises I have 15 Grunge Maps.

Please see attached and let me know if it looks correct?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,
I created a few folders in my library browser like Grunge Maps and Textures.
The Grunge Maps show up fine once I mapped a drive letter because the textures are directly under the (1) folder Grunge Maps.
Now when I add my textures that are on the network to my Preferences Edit etc..., the Textures do not show up because Substance Designer does not search in those folders: Abstract, Bricks, Buildings and so forth.  The only way that the program sees those NETWORK textures is if I put them under the parent folder Textures?

System is Windows 7 64 bit.

Please advise if there is a way to keep the textures in their sub-folders and Substance Filter can see them, and or if I should simply take each texture out of their independent folders and clump them all together under the (1) folder textures?

Thanks,
Sandra

Hi,
I just noticed while I was viewing the new 3.5 Tutorials that my Bitmap2Materials, Textures, and Grunge Maps are missing?
How do I add them to my browser, and or do I need an update of the program?
Build is: 3.5.2 build 12129 Release (2013 04-19)

Please advise,
Thanks,
Sandra

Hello,
Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.
Can Substance Designer convert bitmap or patterned based element files in to vector graphics? Thoughts are that I could simply use Substance Designer for .pat files if I am able to take patterns via bitmap and or base element patterns and simply convert them to vector images to be exported and used as .pat files in autocad/revit.
