I've just spent an hour looking for tutorials on the Gradient Filter (including upgrading from 1.5 to 1.7.3) and cannot figure out how to implement it.  I have added it to fill layers, added it to masks, and see no result what so ever.

I need to create a gradient map from top to bottom on a 3D object.  This map is needed  as a weight map in Iclone.  Due to the way the UVs are set up (a jacket with separate pockets), drawing on the 2D map will not work.

Thanks in advance.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Feature Requests - A "CREVICE" tool
 on: October 25, 2015, 12:20:08 pm
Sculptris is very limited and still unstable, but one brush that is really handy is the "crevice" tool -- it lets you apply a brush to a large area and have the paint only go in the cracks.  It have the option of ignoring the cracks and only effecting the higher parts of the mesh.

Why would this be useful?

Those of us using DAZ models don't always have access to ID files.

Thanks for the tip! I just bought it.

For the uninitiated (like me) you will have to install Steam.  If you already have the trial version of SP, you can buy it on Steam, then link your Allegorithmic account to Steam, and Allegortithmic will provide the licence key, so you won't have to reinstall.

Great software.  Very happy!   ;D

Even if it is just a simple implementation to the 2D map!  In Manga Studio, for example, the ability to place spline rulers makes life so much easier for any type of "rigid" design work.   :D
