Im painting a very simple mesh house, it has basically no baked normal maps due to its simple geometry, so Im mostly working with applied materials. For the chimney Im using a brick material and wanted to add some rain dirt leaks. The material has its own maps that get the job done, normal, height, AO, etc.. but if I use a particle brushes it ignores the material normals and leaks down straight because the chimney mesh itself has no baked normal map... if there a way to make the particle be affected by layer normals? Or it can only work with the texture set baked maps?

Thank you Marion,

I just checked the Substance Source tab and everything is in order again!

Ive been using Substance Painter and source for days with no problems at all.

The first thing I noticed when I logged in today was a emoty downloaded asset list. Like I said, Ive been using this daily for the past months and I have already downloaded a bunch materials.

I thought maybe this would be a visual problem and searched for "Rock", the search didnt return anything. Altho it says "Search result (38)" nothing is displayed in the window. I started browsing the category tab in the left, every tab I click doesnt display any material, but it still show how many materials are on each category.

There are only a few materials I can see, 20 fabrics (out of 372 listed) and 1 metal (out of the 203 listed) I cant even see the materials I have already downloaded.. what is going on?

Ok I identified the problem, I noticed it showed multiple licenses options on the activation wizard and the first selected option was the trial version. After choosing the right one the trial message disappeared.

I still dont understand what is this "maintenance ends on: Wed Jen 23 2019" that shows on my newly purchased perpetual license.

Would love some clarification. Thanks

I uninstalled my Substance Painter, downloaded from the link on my license page and still no good. This time it accepts the license .key file, but activating it from either account or file activates it as a 14 days Trial.

For over a year Ive used a Substance Indie subscription without any problems, I renewed my subscription every month and the activation wizard automatically activated it using my linked account.

Today I opened my SP and got a "No valid license for this account" error. I havent used any Allegorithmic softwares as of late (for a couple of months) but my subscription kept going on for all this time, it was never canceled and still active. I downloaded the license key from the site and tried using it, rather than the logging option, but when I place the .key file it wont let me proceed and says "The selected license file is invalid"!

Then I noticed there was a option to upgrade my subscription to perpetual for 49 dollars, decided to take it as my 19.90 dollars monthly subscription had been going on forever now, it looked a good deal and maybe it would even fix the problem described above.. So I upgraded my licence, upgraded my Substance Painter and opened it again.

The problem persists! But this time after activating it (through the activation wizard) it set my software on a 31 days trial version! I decided to downloaded the SP licence key again and used it, hoping it would change that, but I still get the me the same error, "The selected license file is invalid"

What is going on? Im clueless what to do now and really could use some help.

This is what I do Jeremie, I always save my project before importing any asset, then I import into my project, still I have never been able to use the Clean feature since I started using SP months ago. Is there a way to manualy remove these files? I have tried but also cant find where Substance Painter keeps my project shelf files in the disk

I have a bunch of imported materials that wont remove from my shelf after using the Clean feature. I just made a new project, imported a smartmaterial to my project, NEVER APPLIED (I read you cant be using it) said material, used the File > Clean but nothing happens, saving and reopening after the process also doesnt do the trick.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Export baked maps
 on: March 15, 2017, 07:18:56 pm
Hi, Im working on a very low poly model and got some artifacts on my normal map. Im guessing its because there are some hard edges with 90 degrees angles. I wanted to export this map and fix it on Photoshop, but Im cant find out how to do it.

Is it even possible? Export a baked map and fix it by hand?

Hello, I started using Substance a year ago, using a month Indie license for most of the time. Since I wasnt in need of the toolds for the past 2 months I canceled my subsciption to save money.

Today I started a new project which I will need Substance Painter and moved to reactivate my rental, I stumbled uppon this banner saying there is a 9,90 promotion, but when I click on that Im redirected to a page with nothing but "UPGRADE" text ( and some youtube, Twitter, Google, etc.. links. When I try to use the Download/Buy license button, it shows as 19,90.

Im really confused. Can somebody please explain how to subscribe with the promotion?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - 2 - sided mesh?
 on: August 22, 2016, 09:36:05 pm
Hello everyone, I was wondering how 2 sided mesh is treated in Substance Painter. I have a low poly lamp and Im using a single plane mesh as texture for a hanging chain, but I wanted it to be two sided. How can I do this in Substance Painter? Or would that have to be implemented on 3DS Max?

This is the mesh Im working at:

Thanks for the help!

Would you mind giving me an advice on how paint down the opacity in this case? I have no normal information on my grass texture, only RGB colors. I tought about using the Fill particle but it wont work on this scenario.

Is there a smart way to paint the opacity where there is no RGB information?

Thank you

Im new to substance and I could use some help working with opacity, Im trying to texture a low poly grass, which are just simple planes. So what I did was use the Projection tool to paint some grass png textures I have on the mesh. But I dont know what steps to follow after this.

How can I make the grass mesh transparent? Right now it looks like painted grass in a gray background. Would appreciate some help, thank you! :)

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Generators and masks
 on: July 28, 2016, 06:28:00 pm
Hello, Im still learning Substance Painter and could use some advices.

I have a base layer material with a second layer above it I named Roughness. This layer only has the Rough channel enabled, I applied a Black mask to this layer and a Dirt Generator to the mask. That way I created some roughness dirt effect over my base material.

But Im working on a very low poly mesh and this Dirt mask now covers all my mesh, including areas I wont want it applied. I dont have room to add more geometry and different texture sets so I tried to manually paint this Dirt mask the Generator creates and "erase" some parts painting it white with a brush tool. Unfortunately the brush tool doesnt work.

Am I doing this wrong or is there a way to change these masks?
