It appears the new Mac Pro 2019 isn't officially supported but I wanted to check if there are any known issues with it and the Radeon Pro Vega II card?

Are there any known issues with the Cintiq Pro and Painter?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Updating Model
 on: November 30, 2017, 05:35:42 am
When working on a project, Painter doesn't seem to like updated OBJ's that have been modified. I have a 50/50 chance that Painter wont transfer the paint data to the re-imported model.

I find that in the middle of a project I often need to rework the model a bit in Maya and re-import the obj with some changes. Usually 95% of the obj is untouched but even that 5% seems to throw Painter into confusion?

Is there a process for this or is it expected in Painter?

I was under the impression that Allegorithmic was finally supporting Painter on the Mac Pro's. Is this not the case?

Its been over a year since Ive used Painter and Im finding the same black artifacts I had back then. Is there a fix for this yet?

I am just about to start texturing a low poly asset that utilizes only a color map. Before I start in SP2, is it possible?

I didn't see anything listed in the release notes so I'm not holding my breathe but is there any better OS X support with SP2.0?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - "Sliding" Layers
 on: February 01, 2016, 12:43:23 am
I'm starting to notice a common occurrence in that my layers at times will subtly slide from their original location or that they may almost outright jump off of my object.

Here is an example below: The red color is a cross on her face with the horizontal line running over her eyes and the vertical up the middle of her face over her nose. But as you can see, it has shifted over and down a bit.

This is becoming frustrating as I find myself going back and fixing similar issues. Is there a way to readjust a layer back to its original position so I don't have to repaint it? Or better yet, altogether stop it from happening to begin with?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Random Artifacts
 on: January 29, 2016, 08:56:52 pm
I'm finding random artifacts more often and am wondering if there is a way to erase out on just a specific channel to remove the artifacts rather than delete the layer and start over.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Image Management
 on: January 21, 2016, 11:12:24 pm
Apologies if this has been answered before but I'm not finding any information about how to handle images I've imported into Painter. i.e. I would like to delete old ones or better organize them etc.

How would one go about doing so?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Frustrating Issue
 on: January 19, 2016, 01:57:29 am
Been off and on with using Painter because honestly there is usually some problem that prevents me from using it as a daily tool and I go back to MARI. I'm finding an issue now that I'm not sure if it's a bug or with the way the interface is set up but for some reason, as I navigate the viewport while working, at some point Painter kills my tablet interaction. The left click button of my mouse is also dead. I can move the mouse around and the system is running normal, but I cannot click anything and have limited interaction with the machine. Even after I kill all open applications the issue still exists.

It hasn't happened to me since the last time I used Painter which was months ago. I just started using it today and its happened four or so times. The only way around is to reboot.

Curious if this is something thats been reported before.

Outside of that many of the annoying bugs I've experienced in previous versions seem taken care of. ;)

OSX 10.11.2
Mac Pro
Dual AMD D700
64GB Ram
Painter 1.7.2

Trying to organize my workspace a bit and I noticed I cannot resize my undocked palette windows on my Mac. Am I missing something?

Just polishing up my workflow between the two but have run into one issue that I hope someone can help me with. How to cast shadows in Toolbag inside of objects. Right now, the light just shines through the geometry. Any ideas?

It seems that when painting in 2D mode it doesn't appear to be true 2d painting. At least not from what I understand of 2D/3D painting.

If I paint along the edge of one UV in 2d mode, paint will also affect an adjacent UV that may be on the other side of the texture map. I wouldn't expect that to happen. I know I can use the geometry decal tool and create a layer with masking blah blah, but after a while this begins to bloat my project. I haven't hit the point yet but I assume that performance will take a hit with all of the additional masking?

Unfortunately this makes it very difficult to paint without stretching along edges. Is there a way, besides the geometry decal tool, in SP to avoid this?

I've also noticed that when painting in 2D there can be color stretching around edges similar to when painting in 3d mode with no edge masking(Another feature I hope comes to SP  :) ).

Not sure if this is an OS X or Painter issue but I figured I'd post in case others were experiencing the same issue.

I was in my happy place just painting away with SP when my Mac came to a crawl. I noticed the ram was completely full. Interesting as I have 64GB's of it. Painter was using over 45GB's of ram. Yikes.

If I have a common base color for multiple texture sets, do I need to copy and paste a single layer from one set to another or is there a way to share a layer between texture sets and just maintain that single layer for an entire mesh?

Also, it seems that for most of the generators one must use a pre baked AO map for them work correctly. Safe to say thats the case for all of the generators?
