I'm importing a texture set into material slots as it is normal map Green/Blue channels are aligned correctly. But when I rotate the material i.e 90 degrees it results in both Green/Blue channel of the normal map facing the wrong directions and rendering incorrectly.

I'm importing materials, rotating and blending them on each other to create larger variations but this issue is stopping me from doing so. You can see it happening on the same stick in the attached image, visualizing normal map R channel.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Default tiling amount

Since version ? the tiling amount of every new layer is at 3 by default. Is there anyway to change it back to 1? In case of smart material it's really annoying to have to change it back to 1 for every sub layers.

I saw the news about Dynamic material layering for Unity. Wondering if it's going to work out for UE4. Basically this workflow does work for UE4 but the issue is material instructions go very high. At least double the instructions compared to the unique texture set workflow. And it becomes a performance killer pretty soon when all materials have such high amounts of instruction..  ???
Can someone shed some light?

I can't use the Iray in SP 2. The menu is not present.
I was able to use Iray in Designer 5.

PC - 970 - 4790K - 16GB


When I try to import some texture maps a message appears saying I have to drag and drop what I want to import to a shelf tab. But when I drag something on shelf it doesn't let me release it anywhere and the only way I'm able to import my things is when starting new using the add button. (version 2.0.3)

When setting any filter and hitting apply it goes off to an unrelated page.


Whatever HDRi I put in Documents\Substance Painter\shelf\environments the thumbnail shows in painter but when clicking it nothing happens. I tried both .HDR and .EXR.

Instead of making a thread for each feature I'd make a post here each time I had something in mind.

1. Select multiple layers and merge them like in Photoshop.
2. Screenshot.
3. Displacement mapping.
4. Parallax Occlusion Mapping.
5. Export texture sets merged into one texture (per channel)
6. Hide parts of mesh where it is otherwise hard to see/paint.
7. Support for texture sizes bigger than 4096x4096. (Critical)
9. Export as 8Bit .PNG.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Adding Smart materials

I got some from SHARE and when placing them in the smart materials folder where I have the program installed they don't show up in painter. Is there another way of adding them?
I can just drag them and drop into the shelf in painter but I want them to be there already every time I launch it.


After I export my textures sometimes (like right now) I'm having a problem with padding where the padding is bleeding into other UV islands.

Please take a look at the baked normal map from MAX to have an idea where the UV islands are.

And as an example here is the roughness map exported from Painter. Padding is going un top of everything.

I don't know why I usually run into mysterious problems. Even if I'm able to solve 99% of problems, that 1% is the only ones happening to me. ^^

This is not letting me work with the software.

Edit: Here's a better explanation:

when i click on a layer or create a new layer or create a fill layer, or want to remove any of them or want to select any of them or create masks, or remove them, or select masks or generally whatever i want to do there with every 1 click the window comes off (no longer maximized) and until i dont maximize it again the mouse pointer isnt in its place

The normals I've baked in 3Ds MAX don't sit alright on the model in Substance Painter. Even flipping green channel makes it look wrong from the other way around.
The same normal on the same model looks ok in Substance Designer.

What should I do?


Why my normal map seams are so obvious in designer? (Tanget space is + - +)

Substance Integrations - UE4 - UE4 integration problem

I'm using UE 4.7.2 and have created some substances and everything is working fine in engine. But when I send them to my friend which is having UE 4.7.3 he is not able to use it. Is there a possibility the plugin isn't compatible with 4.7.3 ?

Hello there,

I've recently started using Substance Plugin for UE4, the only issue is when I was working without it, I could dither the normal map to prevent the waves but now it goes straight to the engine and I can't do anything. Any tips on how I should proceed is appreciated. Thanks a lot. :)

Here's a shot in Marmoset, this is exactly what I get in UE4. (Was lazy enough to not load the engine and take a shot there ^^)

Also a side question, (Dear WES) I still can't take HighRes screen directly from SD v4, is that possible in SD v5 ?
