4
Overview:
This is a general bug fix release.

Whats Changed:
- We have improved the send to Substance Painter feature so that meshes included by default within UE4, meshes that are added from marketplace content, and meshes added through a .uasset are sent to Substance Painter as intended.

- Sending a mesh (Mesh-A) to Substance Painter that is using the same material as another mesh (Mesh-B), followed by sending Mesh-B to Substance Painter, and then sending Mesh-A once more, no longer breaks the material used for each mesh.

- A material that uses a SubstanceTexture2D and a copy of that SubstanceTexture2D no longer loses reference to one when the SubstanceGraphInstance is reimported.

- Sending a mesh to Substance Painter after updating materials on another mesh will no longer break materials and cause miscellaneous problems.

- SubstanceTexture2D instances that are used in texture parameters within a dynamic material instance will no longer disappear after the SubstanceGraphInstance is reimported.

- Added many stability improvements to the connection between Substance UE4 LiveLink and Substance Painter.

Overview:
This is a major version release to support UE4.16, add stability, and add additional API support.

Updates:

-- Adding a new blueprint node and support for Aggregate Substances. This blueprint node combines two GraphInstanceFactories creating a new one allowing you to chain the Substance outputs from one SubstanceGraphInstance to input image parameters of another GraphInstance. Currently, this is a runtime feature only.

-- Adding new set and get blueprint nodes to SubstanceGraphInstances for both boolean and color input types.

-- The C++ API is now exposed at a project level for all Substance core object types. This includes - SubstanceGraphInstance, SubstanceTexture2D, SubstanceInstanceFactory, and SubstanceInputImage.

-- Fixed a build issue where a Substance include path could not be found within C++ projects.

-- The GetChannel blueprint node for SubstanceTextures was missing channel options. This has been updated to have a wider range of values.

-- Linux bug causing crash when importing or interacting with GraphInstances has been fixed.

-- Various crash fixes.

9
Overview:
This is a stability release which fixes many of the recently reported issues.

Updates:

--We found a larger issue that was causing various crashes while working with the editor while the substance plugin was active. This has since been fixed which has greatly increased editor stability while the substance plugin is enabled.

--Mac and Linux GPU engines have been updated and no longer cause outputs to be empty (black textures) when the GPU engine is set.

--During the process of updating a project containing substance assets, a save corruption sometimes occurred causing projects using corrupted substance assets to no longer load. The corruption has since been fixed and assets that were crashing when loaded due to the corruption no longer crash. These assets now also work as intended.

--Graph Instances on occasion would lose reference to the graph instance factory which created them after they were reimported. This no longer occurs.

--Duplicating a graph instance factory now duplicates all graph instances that were created using the graph instance factory that it is being duplicated from.

--Plugin source code can now be built through a non-unity build.

--Loading substances created in Substance Designer 6 that are using the new floating point formats no longer crash the editor.

--Added new texture formats for the floating point formats for substances created with Substance Designer 6.

--Fixed a bug when packaging a project through the editor that would crash the packaging process.

--Fixed a presets related crash occurring on various platforms.

--Duplicating a SubstanceTexture2D no longer crashes the editor. (Not Functional - See Known Issues)

--Deleting a graph instance factory no longer causes a graph instance that was duplicated from another graph instance to crash when loading.

Download Link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/06nyo7ja0olderp/Substance_UE4_Plugin_4.15.0.23.zip?dl=0

Known Issues:
--Reimporting a substance graph instance or graph instance factory can cause a broken graph instance to appear in the content browser if one of the graph instances was being hard referenced somewhere within the project. (You can determine this by viewing the reference tree for an object.) We are still working on a fix for this.

--Duplicating a SubstanceTexture2D causes many issues. We are currently working on fixing these issues.

Notes:
The plugin is now available for download through the Epic Marketplace. Alternatively, the most recent version of the plugin can be downloaded from the link above.

10
Overview:
This is a stability release which fixes many of the recently reported issues.

Updates:

--Fixed a missing include directory when including SubstanceUtility in a source project.

--Fixed a crash when calling SetImageInput blueprint node when the image had not been previously assigned.

--Fixed a crash that was occurring when the graph instance editor was opening for various graph instances.

--Combobox inputs in the graph instance editor no longer get mismatched and now properly set the selected value.

--Clicking the magnifying glass next to an output in the graph editor window when the output is disabled will no longer crash the editor.

--Pressing Control + Z or Control + Y (Undo and Redo) no longer crash the editor

--The undo and redo system has been fixed and now properly applies changes when Control + Z or Control + Y are pressed.

--Updated the C++ API so that all SubstanceUtility blueprint functions can now also be called from C++

12
Overview:
This is a stability release which fixes some of the recently reported issues and improves the reimport workflow! As always, any comments, questions, and feedback are welcome and appreciated!

Bugs Fixed:

-- Reimporting an instance factory or graph instance no longer displays the overwrite assets window before reimporting. Reimporting now automatically overwrites the existing assets.

-- Reimporting an instance factory no longer creates a new material for the newly created graph instances. Instead, the original materials will be updated (If one was created when the instances were created). Additionally, all materials that currently sample substance output textures will also be updated.

-- Reimporting an instance factory will now reimport all graph instances created from that factory rather than only creating one new instance.

-- Reimporting from a substance graph instance no longer causes the editor to crash.

-- Opening the load preset dialog from the graph instance editor window and closing without selecting a preset file no longer causes a crash.

-- Opening the load preset dialog by right clicking on a graph instance no longer causes a crash.

-- Duplicating a graph instance no longer crashes the editor. The newly created graph instance will now also create its default outputs and material.

-- Applying presets to a graph instance no longer resets all non-preset inputs to default.

-- Various other crashes and loading issues.

-- The README has been updated with additional steps needed to include the plugin in source projects if issues arise.

-- The Gynoid Marketplace project has been updated and is now compatible with 4.14. All warnings have been fixed and all elements of the level are now compatible with the current engine version. Blueprints have also been updated.

-- The 100 PBR Substance Asset pack on the Unreal Marketplace has been updated and is now compatible with the 4.14 Substance Plugin.

-- The Atlantis project has been updated to support the missing recent engine versions.

Overview:
For the past few months, most of the UE4 substance plugin releases have been compatibility releases while we have been hard at work with a plugin refactor. The main goal of this was to allow us to get feature updates released much faster! As new features appear in our tools, they will quickly appear here as well.

Very Important:
Please take note before upgrading current projects using this new version of the plugin:
This release is not backward compatible. Once a project has been loaded, updated and saved with this version, assets will no longer work with all previous versions of the substance plugin. Much has been changed and with change, often comes issues. We have put in a lot of work to make sure that this is as stable as possible before release but before upgrading a project, we ask that you please backup your projects and work! If any issues are found, we love feedback and will provide bug fixes as soon as we can.

News:
One of the main issues we have received feedback for is users have had trouble accessing the Substance UE4 plugin due to our Github being a fork of Epic’s source code and issues with the UE4 Marketplace. As a result, we will be providing an alternative method of releasing the plugin. I have included a dropbox link to access the plugin for now and we will soon have a download link from our website where you can download recent versions of the plugin as they are released. For installation instructions, check out the readme within the downloaded plugin folder.

New and Changed Features:
--Blueprint only projects can now be packaged from within the editor. You no longer need to create source code and build the project from source to package the substance plugin.

--Our texture compression has been updated to the newer BC compression formats, such as BC4 for linear textures and BC5 for normal maps. This greatly improves texture fidelity.

--GraphInstances now store a reference to a material if one was created when the instance was loaded which can be accessed/assigned easily from a blueprint.

--CreateInstanceOutputs Blueprint node has been removed. By default, the graph instance will create its default outputs when created through blueprints.

--Two new blueprint nodes have been added in place of the CreateInstanceOutputs node. These are named EnableInstanceOutputs and DisableInstanceOutputs and they are setup in the same manner that CreateInstanceOutputs was. They allow users to enable and disable different maps at runtime or construction time through blueprints.

--Added a new node which returns a channel enumeration value for which output channel a substance texture should be used for. (Set from Designer)

--SubstanceTexture2D objects now work properly after corresponding SubstanceGraphInstances and/or SubstanceInstanceFactories are deleted or not found. In the case they are not present, SubstanceTextures will default to baked.

--SubstanceTexture2D tooltips have been updated.

--General performance improvements

--A new setting has been added to allow users to limit how many substances can be updated from the async queue each frame.

Bugs Fixed:
--Fixed: Texture artifacts appearing on sharp edges in normal maps that appeared on lower resolution outputs have been fixed as a result of compression updates.

--Fixed: Changing an output size to 4k from blueprint nodes when the GPU engine was set would default to 2k textures. Now properly changes to 4k.

--Fixed: When moving substance assets to different folders in the content explorer, assets are no longer duplicated.

--Fixed: Calling DuplicateGraphInstance or CreateGraphInstance no longer modifies the GraphInstanceFactory requiring it to be resaved.

--Fixed: Packaged builds no longer cause an unusual amount of memory to continuously be used.

--Fixed: Core plugin functionality has been disabled for the dedicated server build configuration.

--Fixed: Reimporting substance assets now properly reimport changes from the source files.

--Fixed: SubstanceInstanceFactories now contain the relative path to the source file along with the absolute path to prevent issues with reimporting after a project has been shared through source control.

--Fixed: There is no longer a crash when canceling the progress of importing a substance.

Marketplace:
An update has been sent to the marketplace and should be available in the upcoming days. An update will be posted here when it does become available.

Edit: The Plugin is now available via the marketplace!

Github:
Due to the issues surrounding Github, we will be phasing this out of our release process. All current versions will remain but new releases will no longer be added.

Once again, feedback is greatly appreciated and we hope you enjoy the new plugin!
