Substance Alchemist - Discussions - Re: instant crash

i even tried to kill the whole prefs folder for alch. no luck at all. keeps crashing.. i got past the bug report etc.. but the program just crashes a few seconds after startup.. .mac osx 10.13.6

I pokes wes about this again.. pointing out that all the CAD/CAM and ARCHVIZ folks would be much happier!

I tried both fbx and obj ... Fbx seems to require vertex on. Obj didn't work unless I had random colors on but then it renamed my materials to radomcolor2 and randomcolor2 -.

I'm going to re-open this, seems that the texture is still coming up as one instead of multiple texture sets in SP from cinema 4d R20
I only way it worked was "random colors" from an obj which then were not the material color names.see screen shot "randomColor1" etc .. 

in fbx only way to get things to work was to check vertex colors on.. then it separated the geo by material from c4d.
Any ideas.. seems to effect the mac version of painter not the windows one - latest painter build. and R20 c4d

Oh.. forgot to mention.. if i start something from scratch it works better i think.. is it an incompatibility with older tutorial files perhaps?


I disagree.. even cpu rendering on official mac laptop with official amd card also fracks up on materials... this has been an issue only in painter.. its prolly a bug on your end or we would be seeing this across the board if it were drivers only.

However iray rendering seems fine though.. its just been an ongoing bug with material display only.

I have heard the newer drivers have issues with various renderers as well so its not just substance i don't think.. i suspect dev's need to update programs due to an nvidia change.. unless it was nvidia that messed up the drivers the last few rounds.

Depending on what renderer your using the beta may work for you too.
In my case i can.. i'm using Maya 2018 with substance and v-ray as my renderer
This supports most of the renderers out there.. so it rocks.
