Materials are only going to get you so far if you have a giant area without anything to break it up. Try composing variations of the same material and masking it with noise. That only takes a few minutes and you can make it as big as you want.

Just start another subscription?

I remember Substance being locked to 2k with the CPU engine, and you had to switch to the GPU engine to go higher. I don't have Cinema 4D and I'm not sure I'm remembering that correctly, but it might be a good place to start until someone else answers.

I think the only way to do it at the moment is to use Substance Player, which is not ideal. It would probably be easier to change your naming convention to make the titles more descriptive. Another idea is to have an image or *.pdf of all your materials that you could reference?

Hopefully one day we can have windows explorer previews.

You could bring the texture maps into Substance and make a Substance with the images, yes.

Any news on when Substance will be available with Adobe CC? I don't want to buy the stand alone again if I can get it through my work CC account.

With Painter you will have to export the bitmaps and add them individually to the 3ds max material editor. You can't export an *.sbar or *.sbs from Painter as far as I know.

You should try posting on the Substance Painter board, but I'm not sure how much help you will get as you're well below the system requirements.

Since Abode stopped responding in the other thread... Can we get an update? Can we get any communication about the plug-in?

Hi all,

Sorry, we don't have an ETA right now. We're close to ready, but with trying to get the new Maya plugin finished, as well as big updates for Unity and UE4 in the works, we've hit a bit of delay in finishing up compatibility released for 3ds Max 2020, Modo 13 and Houdini 17.5.

Any update on this?

Revit to 3ds Max for UVs then to UE4 for materials, lighting, etc, if that's the route you want to go.

Any interest in rendering out of 3ds Max with Corona or Vray? You get higher fidelity with the sacrifice of interactivity, you don't need UVs (for most things), and you can use Substances still.

EDIT: You can also try Datasmith, I think it's still free at the moment, It should go from Revit to UE4 relatively easy if what I've read about it is true (haven't had a chance to test it myself)

Having the same issue.

The new plugin only works for 2018+

There's been a few threads on this and I believe the temporary solution is to go into the "Customize User Interface" menu and back out. That should populate the menu as far as I recall reading.

EDIT: My bad, missed the line in your post that mentioned this solution.
