Hello,

Does Substance Designer 6 need a Mac with an hardware that has SSE4/4.1 instruction set support in the processor ? I had a crash on startup problem with another software (a Second Life viewer), and since my Mac doesn't support these instructions, I've been told that I wouldn't be able to run this viewer, and that this lack of support was the cause of the crash.

Hello,

I quit Substance painter 2. I get the dialog box giving me the choice between Don't save, Cancel, and Save. I click on Save. Substance Painter quit without letting me save my document.

Mac Pro rev 1,1 / El Capitan 10.11.6 / Substance Painter 2 2017.2.0

Hi,

If you are using OS X 10.10, we identified a crash that will be fixed in the coming days.
It should work fine with OS X 10.11 and 10.12 though.

Cheers,

El Capitan is OS X 10.11 :). I am on el Capitan 10.11.6

Hello,

I have a Mac Pro rev 1,1 / ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 Mb / RAM 15 Gb / El Capitan. I'm using the last trial version of Substance Designer (2017.1.1). It always crashes on startup. Even the bug report didn't work :)

Thank you

Hi,

Substance Live does not take into account the upgrades.
It would take 8 months for SD5 and 8 months for SP2.

Cheers,

You mean not anymore, don't you ? In January there was the possibility to upgrade Substance Designer from 4 to 5 with 3 monthes of live or 50 $. What made you change your mind on that ?

Hello,

How many time will it take to get definitive licence of SP 2 and SD 5 with Substance Live if I have SD4 and SP 1 ? Is it possible to use Substance Live to upgrade only Substance Painter ?

Thank you

That version 15483 was just a quick unofficial build we put online so that users could check and confirm that we had indeed fixed the bug, since we can't reproduce it in-house. A proper official 5.0.2 version with that bug fixed (and a couple others) will be released in a few days.

Thank you for your answer. In fact I'm interested by the steam version which is on discount actually, but I won't buy it if I'm not sure that SD5 works on my computer. Is there a way to get this new version sooner ?

Hi,

Substance Designer 5 is not compatible with 10.6. You need 10.7 minimum in order to use it.

Cheers,
Nicolas

Yes, I've just seen that today. Sorry for the noise. It doesn't change that it crashes on my main partition which is under Yosemite, as you can see in the first log I have posted.  I see above that there is a 15483 build available. Trial version is only 15447. Could you put the 15483 version as trial version too, please ?

Hello,

Substance Designer 5 crashing on startup on my Mac Pro too, here is the url to the log of the crash, in case it can help :

http://pastie.org/10019684

Having a partition with Mac OS X 10.6.8 on my machine, I've made a try, and SD5 crashes there too. Here is the log :

http://pastie.org/10019731

I see on this log that libc++.1.dylib should be loaded, but, I've checked, and I can't find it on my 10.6.8 partition :

ls /Volumes/Yosemite/usr/lib/libc
libc.dylib              libcrypto.0.9.dylib     libcupsmime.1.dylib
libcblas.dylib          libcrypto.dylib         libcupsmime.dylib
libcharset.1.0.0.dylib  libcups.2.dylib         libcupsppdc.1.dylib
libcharset.1.dylib      libcups.dylib           libcupsppdc.dylib
libcharset.dylib        libcupscgi.1.dylib      libcurl.2.dylib
libclapack.dylib        libcupscgi.dylib        libcurl.3.dylib

Hello

When I put Substance Painter in full screen using the green resize button on Yosemite, I can't put the window back in its normal size, since I don't have any access to the window buttons. If I relaunch the application, it remains in full screen. I don't know how to bring it back to its normal state

Hello,

I've just made my first export from Substance Painter, and I don't get the result I have in SP. My goal is to texture objects to import in Second Life where I can have diffuse, normal and specular. The object I've done shines in SP since I've put gold material on it. When I import it in Second Life, and add the diffuse, normal and spec, the result is flat. No shine. For the gold part, I have to use the base color texture since the diffuse one is black. The answer is perhaps obvious, but I'm completely new with 3D painting :). What should I do to get the same result in Second Life than the one I get in SP ?

What I get in Substance Painter

What I get in Second Life :

Thank you

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Stencil materials
 on: October 06, 2014, 12:07:08 am
Hello,

I'm watching the youtube video of june 18th about Brushes, tools and materials, and I noticed that there is no stencils materials panels in the beta I've downloaded this week. Also, in the Viewer Settings, the check box Mesh normal has disappeared. Is it normal ? Will the IU features change again since the release of version 1.0 ? It's difficult to follow tutorials if you don't have the same thing in the software than in the video you're watching.

Thank you

Hello
A lot of examples I see with Substance Painter are related to robots or weapons. My friend is interested with it, but she is doing clothing with Marvelous Designer. So she rather need fabrics like wool, silk, ... to paint on them. She normally uses Photoshop to do that. Would Substance Painter help her for this kind of work ? If yes , how ? I'm sorry if my question seems naive, but I'm a total newby in the 3D field :)

Thank you

Hello,

I'm learning Substance Designer (and 3D and texturing, as well :)), and I have some questions. I'm trying to make a chest. I've taken the idea from this picture the picture below. I have for the moment the model displayed on Sketchfab :

https://skfb.ly/zJLP

I've added lambert shader with different colors on the model for the convert "uv to svg" to place the different materials on the object. When creating new graphes for the wood and for the metals part, should I start from a uniform color and process it to get the metal or wood I want, or should I start from an existing texture ? I've put different lambert colors on the object to differentiate wood from the sides from wood for the front and back, for example. But I wonder if it is enough . On a real object, each face is different from the other. Should I do like that and have a different lambert shader for every page.

Thank you

Just a note for anyone not familiar with Steam...
I came at this from Maya and thought that it was just a reseller promotion. However, purchasing from Steam requires that you run their network in order to use Substance Designer. And there are no refunds. I would have just bought it from Allegorithmic in that case.

I have no idea how upgrades might work in the future.

You don't have to be online to use Substance Designer, if this is what you mean :

Offline Mode for Steam
