Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Feature Requests - Re: Shared VRAM
 on: February 21, 2019, 11:11:40 pm
It is already the case. Starting with 2018.3, Substance Painter uses sparse virtual textures and only uses a pool of vram, streaming data from ram and disk when needed.
Oh, bugger, didn't noticed it due to using GTX 970

Thanks for a quick answer!

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Feature Requests - Shared VRAM

It's rather a question, that a direct feature request: is there any plans to make it possible for Painter to dump some data from VRAM to a RAM if there's not enough of it? Maybe that's what are you planning to do to fit UDIMs in Painter and this feature is already on it's way?
I'm now in a business of picking a new GPU, so it would be nice to know what can be more important for comfortable work in Painter in the near(ish) future: VRAM size or good ol' computation speed or even raytracing.

Amazing winners! Congrats to every participant!

Take a look at this. :D

Thanks for the link.  I had not seen that.

"Somewhere in the week of May 29th."  A few more long days for the judges.  ;)

Winners announcement will be June 1.

Was "June 1" a guess, or was it stated somewhere (by Allegorithmic staff)?
At least headers on Allegorithmic's social media prove that.

Great idea and final result!

Wow, it's so clean and precise!

Don't mess with Mat!
Great job, keep it up!

At least he looks healthy and happy even at this stage! :-)

It's so solid! Good work!

whoa, that's nice idea! Just don't turn on the shadows in scene. :-)

That's freaking awesome!

Yes I will upload final version on Sketchfab.
So be careful not to brake illusion of the galaxy inside!  :)

My wife said not ideal so will work on more concepts lol
Looks like she's pretty demanding person, isn't she?  :D

Jeez, man, you've done some hardcore stuff! Can't wait to how it turned out in the end!
