Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Discussions - Waves along gradient?
 on: December 31, 2020, 02:49:46 pm
I'm a bit lost on how to achieve this undulating effect along the contours of the blue islands.
Distance+MultiDirectionalWarp have a decent effect but I'm trying to make the waves stronger i.e. red line

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Coincidentally I've been stumbling across posts far back as 2015 before I read this.  :o

I'd imagine there has to be some kind of technical limitation we don't know about? As a user, it seems odd that such a common process is neglected by so many programs.

If anyone reads this, is there a workaround? I've had to export into photoshop or rely on 3d view but I'm curious if there's another way.

If it's a color that you see then it's sRGB. Everything else is linear.

Not sure if I misinterpreted this but doesn't normal map need raw color space? Quick test of raw vs linear

Also, I'm a bit confused why there's 2 separate "color space" settings (Output node and on export setting). I noticed the node has Passthru, SNorm, and DX/OpenGLNormal which isn't present in the export setting.

Nicolas, apologies for the 2 month reply!  :-[

From what I guessed, I think it has to do with either multiple shapes or whether they overlap/intersect.
Here's a colorized version of the SVG I've attached below:

edit: not sure if the svg attached properly.

I'm watching a video where the hipoly model was broken into 2 separate components and both added for baking in SP.
Is there a particular reason for this?

I've always just used 1 high poly + "By mesh name" to avoid baking artifacts.

Is it just preference or is there an actual use I'm not aware of?

sorry for old bump but has anyone found a way to get SVG's imported without Illustrator?
I'm sure with the recent Adobe acquisition, stuff like this will inevitably get fixed but not sure if there's anything else I can do to import SVG's just from Photoshop.

https://forum.substance3d.com/index.php?topic=1864.0 was one of the only successful posts I've seen. It requires Illustrator to disable some options.

Does anyone know if an SVG workflow is possible purely from Photoshop? I've read countless posts from years ago and all of them seemed to give up on it. Not sure if there have been any developments since then.
