I would also like to see an alternative to Iray.

Iray has always been a problem for me with my setup.  I'm at a point now where I just export texture sets back out and use Blender for actual testing.  Really slows me down, but constantly having Iray crashing leaves me little alternative.

You aren't the only one to have problems.

I'm on an iMac (2016 model) and regularly Iray crashes whenever I try to go into Rendering mode.  The only constant seems to be OBJs exported from Blender in my case.  I've been assuming that it's been a fault of the model itself but now I'm not so sure.  Some models crash, others don't.  It's been driving me crazy, and it's not as if my models are all that complicated.

Wish I could just gut Iray out of Substance Painter and put in something else.  Maybe even Prorender given that my graphics subsystems have been Radeon-based even when ATI was an independent company.  We can dream.

My next step is waiting for my Ryzen linux box to download Substance Painter and try it on that machine as it (very temporarily) has an nVidia card in it.  Copy the file over and then see.

Dang.  Never got to try.  I just reinstalled Substance Painter 2 as it was installed on El Capitan and I've since upgraded to Sierra.

I actually did think I would be able to simply move stuff around in Finder and reload Substance Painter, but I couldn't find the install directly.  The directory for Mac OS X from the first line above did not show up for me, but I would say that's because I purchased Painter via Steam and so the folder is not the same.

Thanks though.

Since the import option of Substance Painter instructs me to just drag and drop items to the shelf, and since basic images can be imported, I'm perplexed as to why downloaded items from the store keep generating "unknown resource type".  I've tried on multiple tabs, I've tried unzipping the contents and even trying the zips themselves.

Nothing but "unknown resource type" for even sbs and sbar files.

What am I missing?
