That's okay, it may not even be doable at a simple user level. But if it were, it would prove very useful for me and even more so for the end user of the susbtance I am building... so I may as well ask here. :)

Thanks mate, and have fun with those functions! :D

Thanks for your reply, and glad you solved your problem! :D

But the issue I explained above actually remains. I may have not been clear enough last time though, so I will try to rephrase it once again here :

=> Is it possible to change the DISPLAYED value of an Input Parameter based on the value of another Input Parameter, and still keep them both direclty TWEAKABLE by the user ?

Example :
I have 2 Booleans Input Parameters.
If one of them is set to "True", then the other must change to "False".
And the state of this other Boolean Input Parameters must BE DISPLAYED as "False" in the Input Parameters tab of the substance, for the user to see.

Hope I clarified my thoughts a bit better this time. Thanks again for any further assistance on this! :)

Hi there! :)

I am currently facing a problem in the direct continuity with's one (hope you sorted it out, by the way :]) with one of my substances.

So let's utilize's example : now that the "scale" variable is indeed influencing the other variables, is there a way to get the sliders of the corresponding parameters to actually react dynamically to the value set with the "scale" slider ?
What I mean by that is I would like to see the values of these parameters change in real-time based on the "scale" value that the user is tweaking.

Basically, the whole issue could be summarized as : "Is it possible within a function to get a variable, modify its value, and then get the modified value to be displayed on the UI instead of the original one ?"
I do not know if this kind of feature is even achievable at a simple user level, but it would surely be a pretty neat addition to my substance as it could eventually save me a lot of clicks during the iteration process.

I tried to find workarounds, thought of maybe using the $time built-in variable, but all my attempts failed miserably until now. I would be really grateful if someone could help me with this matter then. :p

Thanks in advance! :D

Thanks for the tip ! I could open my project again, all nice and clean... quite a relief ! :p

Ok, nevermind then.
Is your screen set at its native resolution?

While waiting for an update, is there any way to get the previous version of Substance Painter ?
I have it on Steam which doesn't seem to allow any kind of version switch, but I'm guessing this could be possible with a standalone version of Painter...
Because as it is, my project is unusable and potentially lost, even though there are hours of work put into it. :/

Thanks for considering my request!

I don't really know if this have something to do with your problem, but based on the titlebar, your project is in "Read only" mode.
Maybe right clicking on your .spp file, then selecting "Properties" and unchecking the "Read only" checkbox will solve the issue, but it is a pure guess...

Did you try to change the Normal map format?
You can do so in Edit > Project configuration.

No problem, glad I could help. :)
These features were covered in of the Painter updates videos if I remember correctly.

I may be wrong but I think the solution to your problems is already implemented in Painter.
To prevent your strokes from bleeding between UV shells (which are contiguous regarding the actual geometry), in the brush properties tab, switch the "Aligment" option from "Tangent" to "UV" and to prevent color stretching around edges, you can turn on the "Backface culling" option right below and tweak the threshold value until there is no more projection artefact.

Perfect! I am looking forward to your reply then :]

Of course, no problem. I sent it to you via PM.

I have indeed been facing a rather critical issue with a particular project of mine since the release of the latest update of Painter (i.e 1.4.1).

So, I open this .spp file, the usual message that tells me that Painter will update the project pops-up, and I click OK.

Then, Painter starts freezing and its memory usage begins to rise exponentially, leading to a slow and painful computer crash.
I still have a comfortable time span to abort the process fortunately, and prevent the crash from happening, but the problem remains. :/

The other thing is that there is no such problem with my other Painter project, so the concerned file might as well be corrupted, I don't know...

I would be grateful if you could provide me with a solution. :)

Thanks in advance!
