This might be better addressed with Autodesk or Chaos Group and I will, but I wanted to see if anyone is having a LAG in Max 2020.2 when using a 'Substance2' material with VRay Next?

I create a plane object.
I create a Substance2.
I attach a generic fabric .sbsar.
I use the script to generate a VRay material.
I drag it to the plane.

Instantly, my scene is massively lagged. Just disabling or enabling the checkmark for say, the 'bump' parameter takes 15-seconds. Anything I touch takes 10-15 seconds or longer. If I now drag a standard VRay Mtl to the plane, all is well.

I installed Corona 3 a couple of days ago. The Substance Plugin now gives the following error when I click "Substance to Corona":

"-- Type error: Call needs function or class got:0"

Does this sound like it's a problem due to the Corona update or does this mean I may have an unrelated issue?

After installing the Max Integration in Max 2019 I have a menu item 'Substance'. However, it's empty. If I go to 'Customize User Interface' and then to 'Menus' and change the order of any one of the menu items, then it will populate the 'Substance' menu when back in Max. However, it will now throw errors and not work when converting 'Substance to Corona' for instance.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the integration 5 or 6 times over a month and nothing will correct this.

Anyone else having this issue?

I'm having issues with the Summer 2018 release on my Windows 10 install. It never stops generating thumbnails and stalls. I can't work at all.

The 'shelf' is installed in the default location in my Documents folder. I installed the main program on my D: drive as it is an SSD.

I've deleted the 'previews' folder to force regeneration of the thumbnails. No help. Every time I switch to a different tab in the shelf, the generation begins again.

Any suggestions?

I'm using Max 2019 (21.0- and the latest Substance Integration (can't seem to find version info) downloaded yesterday (5/13/18).

Every material that I apply to an object changes the size or scale of the object. If I disable 'Displacement' in the final Max material node it does not correct the issue. Setting 'Height Range' and 'Height Position' in the Substance will affect the size of the object but setting them to '0.00' does not return them to their normal sizes.

I've attached a screenshot. In the viewport i have the sphere just barely touching the surface and the edges of the 3 objects just barely tangent to each other. Also, in the torus, there is just a tiny slive showing in the middle.

In the render you can see that the scales have changed. The sphere is large and penetrates the surface. The box is larger and overlaps the sphere and the torus is smaller, exposing more in the center.

Anyone else having this issue? Maybe I'm overlooking a setting. Any suggestions?

I spent several hours trying to diagnose this and can't figure it out.

I drop a 'Substance2' node into Max 2018 and load 'metal_steel_floor_graing.sbsar.' I then choose 'Substance to Vray' from the 'Substance' menu and the 'VRayMtl' is crated with all the assets wired. I assign that to a plane.

I've attached two images. The 'Glossiness' map from 'Substance2' that is wired to 'Refl. gloss' in Max has no effect. I can see the proper grayscale map in the 'Source Map' preview. But when production rendering, it does not work.

I then Bake the outputs and bring in the 'Glossiness' map (BMP) and it looks exactly like the Glossiness Source Map. I wire the baked BMP to 'Refl. gloss' and it works perfectly. You can see that in my 2nd attachment.

I've tried this on multiple textures and they all misbehave the same way. What I'm I missing or doing improperly?

My V-Ray version is 36004.

I'm using SP 2017.4.2. I'll be working and SP pops up a small window named 'Saving...' and a blue progress bar zips across left to right in the bottom of the small window. It freezes everything. I can't 'ESC' out or use any other key to halt it. This is the second time it's happened to me and after 10-minutes I have to 'End Task' out of it and lose all of my work.

What might be causing this? I like having an 'autosave' feature but this makes it difficult to work.

I think the Max Plugin for 2018 is still Beta. Just reporting that I can't connect to CGTrader in the External Stores for Asset Library. I'm not sure if that's Autodesk's or Allegorithmic's responsibility. Just wanted to mention it here. I'm using Windows 10 x64, latest version.

Error I get is:

An error has occurred
The redirect uri included is not valid.

I tried to install Max 2016 SP3 and something went wrong. The file 'substancedealer.dlt' got corrupted. I need to acquire it somehow. Would anyone be willing to provide it for me? It's in 'maxroot/stdplugs'.  It looks like it has an associated file named 'substancedealer.dlt.mui'. I'd like to get both if anyone has them.

I have SP 1.7.2 on Windows 10 Pro and with each launch of SP the Shelf's thumbnails are missing and begin to rebuild. It brings my machine to its knees while they rebuild and it takes a lot of time. I have a very powerful machine so this is an issue.

I have my Shelf on another drive. I direct all software installs away from my C: drive like a lot of people do to keep C: from filling up. And, the Shelf is huge. I have the proper path to my alternate location and an identical hierarchy to what was installed on the C: drive.

If I understand it correctly, the thumbnails are in companion folders for each category in '.alg_meta'. I have those. Or am I mistaken that the normal operation is to regenerate thumbnails on each launch? If that's the case, then it makes it difficult to open SP and start a project each time because it takes 10-minutes to generate the thumbnails.

If the normal operation is that the thumbnails are supposed to be visible immediately upon launch, how can I fix it?

I have found that the opposite is occurring with V 1.6.1 on my Windows 10 Professional machine. Every time I close SP it crashes and pops up a crash report. As a result, every time I open SP all of the material, etc., thumbnails have to be regenerated.

I was having an issue getting another program to run and got tired of trying to diagnose it so I completely formatted my HD and did a clean install of Windows 10. That solved the issue with the other program not opening and I had hopes that it would have simultaneously solved the SP problem. It did not. I set it so it had no 2D view open (which you mention was causing crashes upon opening SP)  and tried that. No difference.

Substance Painter crashes EVERY time I close it and trashes any generated thumbnails.

I'm having the same thumbnail generation issue with Painter 1.6.1 on Windows 10. Each time I open Painter, it takes 20 minutes for the thumbnails to generate. I can't work by scrolling them for a long time. And I have a very fast machine.  I would think that these would be generated once and cached for future launches. Does it NOT work like that?

[Note: Sorry, I mistakenly dropped this in the wrong forum, it should be in Painter, can a moderator move it?]

I searched the Forum and it appears no one else has this issue so I must be doing something wrong. I have my shelf redirected to a non-default path and all of my assets are in it in the same structure as they were when Painter 1.6.1 was installed on my Windows 10 PC. I have set the new path up in 'Preferences' and made it the default. I've tested that it is working by setting up a completely wrong folder for the shelf, restarting Painter and noticing that "all" of my shelf assets are missing. I then reenable it and I have them back. So, Painter is seeing my custom path.

However, 'id_selector.sbsar' does not show up in the shelf in 'Filters'. I found the file in my older Painter installation and moved it to the 'effects' folder in my shelf tree as it was missing. It still won't show up. It's a really important filter and I need to use it. How can I get it to work?

I'm surprised I can't find a thread discussing this. Surely I'm not the only one who can't figure out how to turn off "read-only". But, maybe I am. I want to modify an .sbs, specifically 'Skin 006' but it's locked. How can I unlock it?

It's not "read-only" in Explorer and I can't find any settings in SD.

As a new user I'm learning the ropes and watching a lot of videos. None of them ask you to switch the shader in the 3d viewer of SD under 'Materials/Default/Shader.' So, I assume  they are using the 'default [Default]' shader, well, because it's the default. However, my shaders are black on my meshes unless I change the shader to 'physically_based.'

That doesn't seem wrong as we are working in a program that makes physically based shaders, but, it seems as if something may be malfunctioning and lead to further issues down the road. I'm having a very hard time getting the beautiful shaders I make in SD to look the same in Max. Most of that could be user ignorance. But, I don't know enough yet to know what's normal and what's a malfunction.

Is my inability to see a shader with the 'relief [Default]' shader something I need to worry about?
