You're looking for a video card just to power your viewports? No gaming? No GPU rendering? Anything will do, grab a cheap GeForce GTX 1060. If you're looking for something more powerful for Unreal and maybe ray tracing, go with the 2080(Ti).

Don't get a AMD card, you'll regret it later, especially if you're using Autodesk products.

The 1070 is faster and has more VRAM, that's the one I would pick personally.

How can I get access, to the entire 580 collection of archviz materials in one go?

Are you going to need all 580 materials right at the start? There are a LOT of substances on Source that you will never have the need for. If you do need 50 different types of Terrazzo it might be better for you to learn Substance Designer better, rather than spending Source points on them. Check out Substance Share as well.

Thanks for the reply, Wes. The issue I'm having with the plugin is the lack of communication regarding the status of said plugin. Thanks for offering to speak to the devs about it. I recommend also posting your findings in the 3ds Max forum because there is a lot of people wanting to know the same.

Why is it so hard to get any information out of the Substance team? I thought this merger with Adobe was going to give you guys the resources that you needed to get things done?

On almost every board on the forum there is questions with no answers.
Substance Source - how long until the next drop? we were told "soon" three weeks ago
3ds Max plugin - For month we were told "couple weeks", "soon", "next week" when we finally got it it had limited functionality. Now they're telling us "soon" for an updated plugin, and have been for months.
Substance CC or anything to do with Adobe merger - We've been more than patient and you've had more than enough time on this. Are you adding Substance to the CC subscription? I already have a CC subscription, and I'm very very hesitant to give you more money until I know whats going on. Everyone who isn't a major developer is sitting in limbo waiting for some clarification.

So what's going on?

There's a huge list of issues with Corona and Substance, I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix for this in the next couple of years though. Just export images from the substance and use those.

Materials are only going to get you so far if you have a giant area without anything to break it up. Try composing variations of the same material and masking it with noise. That only takes a few minutes and you can make it as big as you want.

Just start another subscription?

I remember Substance being locked to 2k with the CPU engine, and you had to switch to the GPU engine to go higher. I don't have Cinema 4D and I'm not sure I'm remembering that correctly, but it might be a good place to start until someone else answers.

I think the only way to do it at the moment is to use Substance Player, which is not ideal. It would probably be easier to change your naming convention to make the titles more descriptive. Another idea is to have an image or *.pdf of all your materials that you could reference?

Hopefully one day we can have windows explorer previews.

You could bring the texture maps into Substance and make a Substance with the images, yes.

Any news on when Substance will be available with Adobe CC? I don't want to buy the stand alone again if I can get it through my work CC account.
