Hi,
It's actually possible to process images using an fx-map. But this technique is absolutely not optimized and should be reserved for offline use only.

I implemented the "detail oriented" technique, other techniques could be added.

When the Divide blending mode will be added to the Substance engine, we'll be able to make this filter using traditional compositing nodes.

The problems people have reported will be fixed in the 3.5.1 version which will be released in few hours.
You should have no problem with this version.

When you change A, does the empty space appears on the top, bottom or both areas ?

update: attached the .sbs. Your needs are very specific, it has to be done from scratch. I added comments so you can understand how it works.

Can you give us some information about your system ?
What happens when you try to launch SD ?
Do you get an error message ?
Is the SD process visible in the task manager ?

We have identified the bug, it only occurs on OS prior to Windows 7. It'll be fixed in the upcoming 3.5.1 version. Sorry about the inconvenience.

The grayscale image input should be replaced by a colour image input and consequently, the Grayscale Blur HQ node should be replaced by the colour equivalent.

Indeed "Noise resolution x2" has been rename to "noise upscale".
"Horizontal scratch" has been renamed to "dirt 4" (it actually didn't look like to horizontal scratches ;) )

I meant our internal wish-list ;)

We'll provide a shadow filter which works with transparency in the next release, until then you can create your own using tranfo 2d, blur + blend nodes.

Can you specify which options from the Photoshop emboss you would like to see in SD ?

It is currently not possible to read font files in Substance Designer, it is in our wishlist but I can't give any date of when it'll be implemented. But as it has been said, the emboss effect should look strictly the same on each character.
