Substance Alchemist - Discussions - Roundness at Zero
 on: November 18, 2020, 05:09:33 pm
Using Floor Tiles in Alchemist with roundness set to ZERO - see attached.  Still the roundness persists.  Why can't you get this right?  Alchemist is a headache!

I have a collection that I want three variations of the same material.  I create the first one and "save current materials as" to create the second one.  When I get to saving the third using save as from the second, it will not work.  I don't really expect an answer, but thought I'd try.  If I do, it will come months later.  How is anyone able to use Alchemist with all the problems in a viable workflow?

Substance Alchemist - Discussions - Square Corners
 on: December 10, 2019, 01:13:18 pm
I am just started to use Alchemist - very cool app and quite easy to get good results.  I am trying to create a Carrara marble subway tile using the brick generator.  Is there anyway to get square (sharp) edges and corners?  Thanks!

Also, how do I upload an image to attach to my post?

I am trying to add end grain to a wooden beam - see attached.  When I try to apply my stencil via projection painting, it won't cover the entire masked area.  Further, the resolution is far too low to be of use.  The "material" I am using consists of a diffuse, glossiness, and normal image with a 1024K resolution.  I would appreciate some quick pointers as I'm on a deadline and don't want to have to take this into another app to complete.  Thank you.

I am exporting objects from Cinema 4D like I always do for import into Painter.  The texture sets are not showing up in the latest version (2017.4.0).  I have assigned materials to selection tags like I always have in the past.  I've even tried splitting the geometry into separate objects and assigning unique materials - nothing works.  Has something changed in the latest version?  I would appreciate some quick help as I'm on a deadline.  Thanks!

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Iray Height Control?
 on: April 23, 2017, 12:31:57 am
Where is the control for height in Iray?

Can anyone advise me on a successful workflow from Substance Painter to Corona for C4D?  I am having trouble with the glossiness and IOR maps in Cinema after exporting from Substance using the Corona setting.  There is much info for 3DS Max users, but they don't seem to apply to C4D.  Thanks, Kevin

I am a subscriber to Substance Live, but only recently downloaded Bitmap2Material.  The version I have is watermarked even though I am paying monthly.  I don't see a place to log in under my account.  Please get back to me ASAP with details on removing the watermark.  I have to use this software RIGHT NOW.  I can't wait days for an answer which has been my experience in the past.  Thank you.

I am having trouble with a normal map generated in SD for use in Vray for C4D.  I have to "bump" up the bump value to an unreasonably high number for it to even show in the render.  Does C4D use the MIKKTSPACE?  Is there a formula to get the same intensity in both apps?  Thanks.

I want to use cells 4 to create a fused glass texture, however, I need to stretch the node non-uniformly to get an oblong shape.  Is there a way to do this without showing a pattern repeat?  Should I be using something other than Transformation 2D?  Thanks.

I am attempting to build a fused glass texture.  The overall pattern of the individual colors resembles the plasma node.  The overall colors are blue, however, a yellow piece shows up randomly - see attached.  As the plasma node is a non-pattern, there is no option to create a random mask or vary the luminance.  Is there a component that will assign a gray scale value to these white areas, so that I can create a mask and therefore use a gradient map to assign colors to these areas?  I would greatly appreciate any guidance as I have been stumped all weekend on how to do this.  Thanks, Kevin

PS - If this is not possible, is there a  pattern that can give me this shape that has a random mask feature?  I have been looking through materials on the Substance Share site and so far, I have found nothing similar to what I want to do.

I am following along with the Scifi Crate project.  In the very beginning of the fourth video, the instructor creates a ambient occlusion channel and a fill layer is automatically created.  This does not happen for me and I can't figure out how get the AO map into the fill layer.  I am aware that I am using a newer version of the software, but would appreciate someone advising me on how to move forward with the training - stuck at this point.  Thanks, Kevin.

Hello everyone.  I am considering a SD subscription and wanted to ask a few questions.  I do all of my rendering in Cinema 4D using Vray, so I will be using the app to output textures directly.  I've seen some tutorials where the max resolution is 2048 x 2048?  Can I export 4K textures?  I'm in need of some really good wood flooring materials.  I've seen a few substances that mimic hardwood, but the wood grains, in my opinion, are too consistent and have no waviness.  Is is possible to move/rotate the procedural in each plank, so that the planks don't look like one big texture with lines separating it?  In other words, I want variation in each plank - not continuous.  This would apply to marble tiles too where each tile is unique - (varying seed per tile).  Lastly, I'm assuming I can easily create seamless tiling textures in SD?  I would appreciate any feedback and if someone could point me towards some good tutorials that would be really helpful too.  Thanks.  Kevin
