Polycount got a new thread called Weekly Substance Challenge where you are given references and try to recreate them in Substance Designer.  I think it's an awesome way of learning the program and getting better.  Hope you'll join in, learn and share :]

I see Week 1 (Concrete Tiles) was posted on July 18.
Where's Week 2?

I am a total noob at this, but having played with Substance Painter, the "Unity 4" outputs seemed to be a reasonable match for iClone use.

Hopefully an iClone 6.x release will include a PBR shader and hopefully it will include "full" substance support.

I wish I had noticed this earlier.

I'm an iClone user, and I enjoy using it to tell stories and make little short movies.  I also spend a lot of time just dabbling with it and not doing anything specific, but it's a fun hobby.

I immediately feel in love with Substance Painter, and bought the Indie Pack.  I have yet to actually create my own substances with Substance Designer, but I continue to plan on at least trying my hand at it some day.

The recent release (last December) of iClone 6 included support for substances.  They have yet to incorporate a PBR shader into the product, though it should be coming in a 6.x update eventually.

I just downloaded B2M 2.2.3 and hope to be able to make use of it in a day or two.


The B2M2 access will go live next week and you will see it in your account. I'm not sure of the exact day just yet. You will be able to download B2M2 directly from your account.

FYI... "Next week" has passed, and I still don't see anything in my account.

Maybe the next, next week?

Would a simple "screen capture" help?
You'd be limited by the resolution of your monitor, but it might be better than nothing.


I bought the Indie pack in October.
I don't see B2M2 in my account.

On your download page, all I see is B2M3, I don't see "2".


We do not have plans to add traditional map outputs to B2M3. It is for PBR creation and B2M2 will be for traditional maps. 

I've been aware of B2M for quite some time, and recently bought the Indie pack (SD + SP + B2M3).

Are you saying I need to buy B2M2 if I want to output maps that are not intended for Substance Painter (or Designer)?  I have other applications that can greatly benefit from "traditional" outputs.

I assumed B2M3 was a newer version of the B2M product, not a different application, and that it would do everything that B2M2 did, plus the new PBR maps.

It never even occurred to me to look for fine print.

I applied the 1.0.1 patch, and it's still there.

Phew!  You can all relax now.  All is well.

My saved projects were left untouched, as expected.

The installation directory, at least some portion of it, remained after doing the uninstall.  When I installed, it noticed that the default target directory already existed.

I installed the "25 Gaming Textures" too, by placing them in the directory specified in the ReadMe.txt file, and I see all of them.

And I had to actually download, and point to, the license file.  That was a surprise.  I assumed I'd simply key in my software key.  Oh well, it's working.

Now to work on exporting to an application that does not use PBR.  I remember seeing something about that in one of the tutorials.  I'll do some searching, and hopefully I won't have to start a new thread for that.

Sorry to be so impatient... but I'm impatient.  I am so excited to do an export.     :)   :o

I'm going to do an Uninstall on the trial version.  I'll do a reboot before installing the purchased version.  (I'm overdue for a reboot anyway.)

My projects are saved in "My Documents" (not an Allegorithmic directory) so they should be safe.

I'll write back to let you know I'm successful, so nobody loses sleep over their concern for me.   ;)
