I have bought a new PC with Windows 10.
It was not a big deal to install all of my indie products from allegorithmic.
Substance Designer and Bitmap2Material3 runs without Problems.
But Substance Painter wont start.

I have tested
Substance Painter 2017.2.0
Substance Painter 2017.3.0
Substance Painter 2017.3.3

But always the same Problem.
I see the splash screen with this goat figure and then nothing happens.
What could be the problem?

Any help would be nice.

Would it be possible to include a Project Folder to Substance Painter?

I mean, a Folder where i find my imported textures, baked textures and other stuff.
It is redicules to search for my files between dozens of Nomalmap textures.

In Substance Painter 1 it where only 4 textures, but in Substance Painter 2 there are around 180 Textures.
It is hard and slows down the workflow to search for my importet and baked textures.

It would be nice to keep all my project files in one place.

I have two Shapes. Lets call it Form A and Form B.
Both are connected via BlendNode and Switch as Blending Mode.
They are Exposed with Integer1 and a Dropdown List.

I want to choose between From A and B with a dropdown list.
Because, maybe i want to create more shapes.

Then i have several other shapes that i want to mix with Form A and B.
Lets Name it A1, A2 ... and B1, B2 ...
Same as above, they are exposed and have integer1 and use a DrpdownList in the menu.

When i choose From A i could only use A1 and A2 as second shape, but not B1 and B2.
Same on the other side, if i choose From B i could only use B1 and B2 as second shape.
As far as i see, in my substance, it works fine so far with visible if.

If i choose From A, the dropdown list for B1 and B2 gets disabled as it should.
Some in the other way, if i choose From B, the dropdown list for A1 and A2 gets disabled.

Now the problem.
If i choose Form A and Form A1 as second shape, everything is fine.
If i choose Form B, the dropdown list for A1 and A2 gets disabled, and the List for B1 and B2 gets enabled as ist should
But as far as i see the A1 shape from the former List is still active in my substance.
How could i reset or disable the A1 and A2 inputs?

I hope you understand what i am trying to explain.
Any help would be nice.


Hi at all

I got a little problem with a custom substance that i have created.
The sbs file works correctly. I am not sure if it is a generaly problem of the sbsar file or if i did something wrong.

I want a basic substance where i could change via dropdown menu some texture inputs like roughness or height.
I work with exposed functions and stuff that you need for a switch, it looks like the sbsar file cant store that informations.
But i am not sure if the painter could read that, too.

How much is possible in a sbsar file for Painter?
Any help would be nice.


I have installed the 50 GT for Painter and the Preview looks realy ugly.
Is there a way to fix that?

Littel test in Substance Painter


In Version 4.4.1 if i bake some maps from my object, i usaly have to delete my older baking options (AO, Curvature, Position...) first and create new ones.
If i have do that, the path for the linked baked files, gets automaticly updatet.
Now since 4.5.2 the path dont gets updatet. It makes no difference if i choose in the preferences Last Path or Package Path.
There is always Last Path active.
Now i have to delete all, hit OK and start baking again for the correct paths.
How to solve that missmatch?

From the Release Log
[3D View] Store default shader in the project files
[3D View] Make the "Default" Material's shader reset to the default shader when clicking on the "Reset All" action
Is there a way to change the default shader to Metal/Rough for 3d View and Graph?
If i hit on Reset my shader get always a reset to Relief.
It makes no difference if i create a new project or work on a actuall project.

I hope you understand what i mean.
I could not show pictures or video to compare the new and old versions, because i am not able to reinstall V 4.4.1 because of to many activations.

Any help would be nice.

Since the 4.5 update you have changed the output name. This sucks.
All of my substance are now incompatible.

Is there a way to rebuild my custom substances to the new output in an easy way?
And did we get an update for the 50 Game Textures, too?

For now i work with 4.4.1 until this problem is fixed.
Some infos and help would be nice.

As the Topic says, i have a ugly normamap problem. And i have no idea why.
Any help would be nice.

My normals of an object in 3d Coat.

You see, the lines are straight

Now in Blender.

The lines are still straight.

Now in Substance Designer.

The lines are still straight.

Now in Substance Painter

The liner are now disortet.

Why gets the normals disortet in that way?
Are there any differences in the calculation between Designer and Painter?
Any help would be nice.


I see i could import a Color ID mask like in Designer, but i have no idea how i could use it.
Or is that ID Mask for something different in Painter?
Any help would be nice.

I have a little problem after i published one of my substances.

If i use the original substance, the colors looks correctly.
But after publishing and if i use the substance it looks like the colors get convertet into greyscale.
Take a look at the attached pictures.

Is this a Bug?
Any help would be nice.

A have a little question about exposing some stuff.

Is it possible to expose in the Levels node the Auto Level Button?

And i have tried to expose the blending modes in the blend node.
After creating an testing in the same Package it works correctly, but after Publishing, the Exposes are gone for the Blending Modes.
Is there something that i didn´t see or is that not possible?

Any help would be nice.
