Coherent Labs provided an update on their website regarding the plugin issue, but to re-iterate here:

If you have an existing Unreal Project (*.uproject) and want to use Substance with it, you must make sure the plugin is enabled in your project files. Go to your project folder, then within there path to Saved/Config/Windows/Engine.ini in a text editor. When you load that file, find the [Plugins] section and make sure in that section is a line EnabledPlugins=Substance .

You don't need to do this if you make a new project with the Substance branch of UE4 as new projects automatically enable the plugins it came with.

Hi nazir.ellahi,

The reason this occurs is because the compiled version of the unreal engine does not have speedtree built in. Since the substance plugin is built from the compiled version, it does not have speedtree either. This is because speedtree operates under a separate license from the Unreal Engine.

Hello Joe,

Would you be able to email the SBSAR (and perhaps the mesh/scene) to josh.coyne@allegorithmic.com so we can take a look at the output? Thanks in advance!

I am getting an error when using your new version of substance with the enw version of Coherent UI. https://forums.coherent-labs.com/index.php/topic,291.0.html

Hello Fsalabedhabt,

I have sent an email to Coherent Labs to see what can be done to resolve this issue together. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

No problem! I'm glad it was easily resolved :)

Why does this come as a 404 error when i click the link even if I am logged in?

Hello Foundre69!

Make sure you are logged into github with the user account that has access to the UE4 repository. Our repository visibility depends on your account having access to the Epic repository as well.

The Substance Plugin V0.3.2 is now live here: https://github.com/Allegorithmic/UnrealEngine

This release is compatible with the Unreal Engine 4.1.0 release

458
Will it compile with 4.1 preview build? Thanks.

0.3.1 only works with Unreal Engine 4.0.2, but we are working on a 4.1 compatible version as well.

Hi Josh,
Do you know if the issue where the editor crashed if you tried to instantiate more than once per session was fixed?   great job to the crew by the way!!

This should be fixed :)

Hello All!

The Substance Plugin V0.3.1 is now live here: https://github.com/Allegorithmic/UnrealEngine

This update features stability improvements, and features such as image input parameters should work properly. We are still working on performance improvements, but performance should be slightly improved compared to V0.3. We value community insight and commentary and look forward to seeing great work created with Substance and Unreal Engine 4!

Very well done Kashaar, thank you!

Hello!

The reason you are getting this issue is because not all of the changes are located within the binaries. There are some changes made to the core UE4 Engine. The binaries will not work if you copy them over a vanilla UE4 repo.

We are going to improve the getting started documentation on github, but in the meantime, here are the steps to follow:

1) clone the repo at https://github.com/Allegorithmic/UnrealEngine
2) Extract Required_1of2.zip and Required_2of2.zip you download from Epic's github page
3) Generate the project files
4) Compile using Visual Studio
5) When first ran, confirm the Substance Plugin is enabled through Window->Plugins on the menu bar.
