SubstanceSubstance - Purchases & Licenses - Upgrade painter
 on: May 09, 2019, 06:05:55 pm
I am considering upgrading from SP 1.3 but cannot find the option.

Thanks, Robert Glotzbach

Hey Guys,

I started to change some substances from Metallic/Roughness to Specular/Glossiness thinking that the last would be the desired method to be used in C4D. But now I start to doubt whether it is necessary at all, don't even remember how I got that idea.

Thanks, Robert

Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Technical Support - N-gons?
 on: May 20, 2015, 08:21:32 am
At first I thought that I was having trouble with my normals since a lot of my poly's don't show in the 3D view. Now I come to believe that its because of N-gons that they don't show.

Is that correct?
I looked in the online help but could not find anything related to it.

Thanks, Robert

Some of you might know allready that the plug-in to C4D became available.
So far I'm very happy with it.  :)

There is one problem, that is that if I import my own sbsar into C4D and creat a material from it only the normal slot gets occupied withe the substance shader. The provided "goodie sbsar" files does it flawlessly, so it must be something with my sbsar. Any idea,.... the outputs do show up in the atribute manager when I click the file from the asset manager.

Thanks, Robert

Before with earlier versions of SP I had no problem exporting material ID's from C4D and have it recognized in SP.
But now with 1.3 it does not seem to work anymore, did something change in this respect?

Thanks,.. Robert

Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Technical Support - Multiple UV
 on: March 11, 2015, 08:14:56 pm
Well the title says it all I guess.
I did a search on this but didn't find an answer.
Any change of using more then one UV map in SD?

Thanks, regards, Robert

It seems that the download button for the windows version doesn't work.

Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Feature Requests - Batch in/out
 on: January 23, 2015, 10:11:39 pm
Hello all,

I saw this great video from Christophe Desse:

Made me wonder, what if there would be a batch function so that it will import an image sequence from a folder with all the necessary maps and then consequently output each of the modified images.

Wow that would be swell.............. 8)

Regards, Robert

Hey all,

I'm experimenting with what would be the best approach of UV'ing this model.
This will not be for a game but for a short movie.
Its a worm and I want the skin to be continues, the problem that I noticed, is that I will not have enough resolution when I have all UV's uniformly scaled, even at 4K. Since the face will be the most important part, I decided to scale up the face UV's, which leaves me off course with a scaling-transition between the different parts. Maybe I can cover it all up by patching the borders somehow and it will be no problem at all( also he will wear some clothing, maybe a jacket). But I thought maybe you clever people will have some very cool idea of how to deal with this?

Thanks a lot, Robert

Hey all,

This is probably too stupid to ask, but I'm going to do it anyway  8)
Trying to paint the iside of a mouth in 2D view and the paint shows up on the face as well.
Does this has to do with seamless painting or what, and how to avoid it?
Using 1.1.1

Many thanks, Robert

EDIT: OK so backface culling is helpful but still not the solution to my question!

Hello all,

I started modelling the Basilica of Vezelay. Rather then modelling everything I am planning to fake some parts using normal maps.
At the moment I'm not to far from Vezelay so I can go there and make the pictures myself the way I need them to be. That brings me to my question. What can I do to take the best out of B2M in terms of taking the pictures?

Thanks a lot regards, Robert

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Substance Painter to C4D
 on: December 01, 2014, 10:27:51 am
I'm trying to discover a good workflow to C4D.

Unfortunately C4D can not handle substances, so Importing bitmaps and setting up the materials is the way to go.
However now we have a new reflectance shader in R16 with many options, layers masking and such. I am wondering if people here using C4D can share their thought/workflows on how to set up the different channels for a PBR scenario. Or maybe direct me to a thread somewhere discussing this.

Many thanks, Robert

I just bought the indie pack  :)
But now suddenly the little screen to put in the serial and user number doesn't show while starting SP  :(

Whats up, I still cannot export my maps because SP is still in demo mode, restarting the computer did not help.

Thanks, Robert

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - load last project
 on: November 27, 2014, 08:52:47 pm
Hey guys,

I looked under preferences but cannot find an option to load the most recent used project.
Possible? Otherwise start with an empty screen.

Thanks, Robert

Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Technical Support - Snake skin
 on: November 24, 2014, 07:07:46 pm
Just a quick question,

I want to try and build a tileable snake skin in SD. Any tip in how to create tileable noises in SD, I guess I will need to do that with an FX map?

Further more, I saw two snake skins in the database, but I could not find a lot of info and previews about them, also if they are tileable or not.

Many thank, regards, Robert
