The Substance in Maya plugin shipped with Maya 2022 and is enabled to install by default.

need more of these. the new plugin doesnt work but could solve issues. guessing something in between might be ok.

Hey there, Integrations PM here! Could you elaborate as to what is not working for you with the Substance in 3ds Max plugin? Steps to reproduce your issue, Version numbers for both 3ds Max and the plugin will be most helpful!

Hi there, integrations PM here! At this time the Substance in Unity plugin is not supported for Unity versions 2020.2 and higher however the plugin should be fully usable with version 2020.1. We have an updated plugin version that is due to release this week however 2020.2 and higher support will not be ready but we plan to add it in the following release.

The next Substance in Modo plugin update is planned to be released this summer (tentatively July 2021) - We plan to address a few user reported fixes found in Modo 14 and upgrade to Modo 15! We will share more details as our timeline is confirmed!

Hi there, Integrations PM here! I understand your frustration and I am very apologetic for any poor experiences you may have with any of our plugins. As a part of Adobe, we have more opportunities afforded to us and we must adhere to the processes in order to use those opportunities. We are aware that the current process for source files is not ideal and because of that we are in the very early stages of exploring what options we have to provide better access to the source builds of the UE4 plugin. We will share further details once a timeline is established. Regarding 'live link plugin' - we are ensuring we maintain the usability of the Painter Live Link feature within the UE4 plugin and are constantly assessing the priority of it along with other features, current and new. At this time, we do not have plans in the near future for upgrades to Painter Live Link. Thank you for the feedback as it is vital to helping build the best Substance plugin in UE4.

Hey there, Integrations PM here! Apologies for the delayed response - somehow this post got past us! There is a bug with the existing Source feature in the Substance plugins that use it currently Unity and UE4. The work around would be to download direct from the Source website (https://source.substance3d.com/) and manually import the assets. We are working on replacing the existing Source feature that will utilize the Substance Launcher to download assets. Look for that in an upcoming release!

Hi, Integrations PM here! Thank you for the further repro steps! We've submitted a request to have support for updating projects in Painter that will essentially "fix" the issue you are experiencing. Once that is in place, you should be able to utilize the workflow as described. At this time, we do not have a timeline given the work needed is outside of the plugin, however we will update this post with any further info as it is received.

The plugin was refactored earlier this year (starting with v. 4.24.0.3) which included support for material instancing and introduced a new material template workflow - however you are able to still edit the material:

If you click the "Generate" checkbox on the import dialogue for an imported .sbsar it will give you both the material instance and the template material (where you can edit the material using the Material Editor).

Hi there, Integrations PM here! We released our Substance in UE 4.26 plugin (version 4.26.0.1) earlier this month and have not experienced issues getting it installed. Could you provide further details/screenshots/etc of what you are experiencing?

Also - you will need to enable the plugin in the plugins section in UE4 and then restart

@uced - I see that you are using UE4 version is 4.25.4 but could you confirm the Substance in UE4 plugin version you updating to?

@andresmedia - Could you confirm the UE4 version and Substance in UE4 plugin version you are experiencing the crash in?

Hi! Integrations PM here! Yes the Substance in UE4 plugin was refactored earlier this year to now use UE textures. Glad you were able to resolve!
