Yes. When you purchase a product or when you are a Substance Live subscriber you get access to it for all supported platforms. If you get say SD5 then you'll get Windows and Mac versions of the program as they are as of now the only supported platforms. I reckon this will be the same when the Linux port eventually rolls out.

Thanks Cyrille for your update. In my humble opinion, for those of us who really want to see Substance tools coming to linux, the supported distribution(s) is not really a roadblock.

I understand that adding a new supported OS may represent more work and resources involved, but I do think it's worth it. It would be a shame to deprive the linux community from such an awesome set of tools ! Keep up the good work

Thanks Fabian and Nicolas for the quick answer. I thought you could benefit from your Mac OS X build to help port the software packages to Linux, but then again there are many distros out there ...
You may want to consider porting SD or SP for a specific mainstream distribution (which runs steam). I hear since steam OS has been announced they have been heavily working on GPU performances.

Ok so let's go through a quick recap' here :

We are working on a Linux version. We hope to release it soon.

We rely heavily on the GPU and from our past experiences with Substance Designer, there are always driver issues and incompatibilities to take care of when porting as well as differences between Linux distributions.
I don't have a specific ETA but sometime this summer seems realistic.

I'm sorry, but we don't have any news to report at this time. Please stay tuned. We will have many announcements around GDC.

So now that GDC 2015 is over, we have a brand new website, Substance Designer 5, Substance Painter 1.3, Substance Live but still no signs of a linux port happening any time soon. I really don't want to be a mood-breaker and I think you guys do an awesome job, but am I missing something here ?

Linux version is on our development pipe. Hopefully, we'll have it available on Steam in the next months.

But, from my Allegorithmic account or steam I still can only download Windows or Mac versions.

I would love to get Substance workflow on my linux platform.

Substance Designer - Technical Support - Black edges appear around my UVs

Hello,

I have been messing with Substance Designer for almost a month now and recently I came across a weird issue with my UVs and Substance.

First I have created a new graph and a base metal texture by combining noises and uniform color.

The thing is, when I then apply this procedural material to my mesh a thin black line appear near the UV edge but not everywhere...



Do you guys happen to know where the problem is coming from ?

It's really irritating.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. I have bought Bitmap2material anyway.
I have being experimenting a little bit with the settings, and here what I came up with.
I am sure I can improve it further.



Could you please tell me which applications are compatible with linux, because Steam does not allow me to install any of your software ?

I was wondering if I could take advantage of the power of B2M in my workflow in Blender ? If yes with which render engine ? If no, are you planning to make it possible in the near future ?

Last question, any chance to be able to run your application on Linux platform ?
