Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - SP Baking errors

Hi all,

I'm quite new to SP, sorry if this issues have been explained before. I fixed my problem but I'm still intrigued why I was getting bad results and I would like to better understand SP baking process.

I have my periscope in Modo but in SP I get several baking errors.

I fixed the problem by triangulating the periscope in Modo and then exporting but I'm intrigued why?

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - Mesh name?

Just out of curiosity, can I change the mesh name in SP? Not referring to the material tag name but the mesh name itself. When exporting if I use $mesh it will use the mesh name in the textures and that's fine, I just wanted to know if there is any hack to change the mesh name inside Painter. Thank you.

Any news on this ? I would like to use substance with Modo 13 please.

Beginner here so please excuse me if these have been requested somewere else:

-To be able to move/copy effects to new layers

-To be able to de-instantiate something and have the material independent.

-In selecting polygons it would be great to select loops and use Shift+up arrow or down arrow to expand or contract the selection (just like Modo)

-To have colors hexadecimal field so I can copy colors from Photoshop ,etc and the other way around.

-Supporting displacements would be nice also

Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry I didn't got any email notification and I forgot.

My only issue is this one with the UV but I think this might be a Modo thing, or even a user error.

This is my modo scene with two simpler mesh elements, I export in FBX 2018 and inside Painter I get this:

I think I found the issue, this seems a SP bug.

If I create a unit cube in Modo and export I get the UV in Painter really enormous and I wont have precision with the 2d painting because the texture set is very small when compared wit the texture size.

If I scale down the cube to be around 100 mm then works fine.

Hi Everyone,

I'm just starting with Painter and I was trying to import a mesh that only has uv's for the visible polygons, some polygons are there but since they aren't visible I deleted the uv's for those.

This fails to load in Painter, it loads but the uv's go crazy in Painter.

Is this normal?

I´m just starting with SD and SP .
I´m trying to apply a levels that doesn´t seem to be working or maybe it is and I´m not aware.

Hi everyone,

Great to be in the community and starting SD and SP.
I wonder if there is any youtube video or tutorial on how to add text inside SD or importing image from PSD and improve the image (blur) so it looks smooth and with a radius when rendered with displacement.

I would prefer everything in SD but I´m fine by importing from PSD the image.
