SubstanceSubstance - Purchases & Licenses - How to cancel?
 on: January 23, 2019, 11:33:33 pm
I want to cancel my subscription. I'm really confused.  Why is it trying to charge me 49.99? to cancel when I have paid out over $900 since March of 2015. I have sent in a support ticket and Im not getting any support.

I have tried everything I can think of but is there any way to get my model to look like it does in Painter but in 3DS MAX. I find a lot people asking about it but seems no one knows. Im using MAX 2017 and Im using the new Physical Material, but its not even close to Painter.

Do we have a list of the new stuff for SP 2 .  Also when I click pause Iray it crashes instantly.

Need some advice for normal height metal finishes.

Every metal part on a gun was either turned on a lathe, mill, grinder or stamped out. Each has its unique patterns. Check this link to see what I mean.

What would be the best way to get different types of metal normal height finishes on my guns depending if its like the barrel and has a lathe pattern-finish or the receiver which has a more of a milling pattern. Should I design a substance in designer?,  or should I make stencil and try to paint only height information in painter and save as a smart material ? or?.  Here is a picture of what Im after, you can see the lathe turning marks,
Thanks Chuck

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Showcase - AKM
 on: December 08, 2015, 05:10:56 am
I just finished up my AKM. I followed along with Tim Bergholz's gumroad tutorial and must say its the best one I have seen on weapons. He uses 3DS Max and Substance Painter. If any one is into modeling weapons using 3DS MAX and Substance Painter its a must video to own. Here are my results.

The results you can get from Substance Painter and Designer  is truly breathtaking. :)

TDR Delay Crash when changing Height

Here's a video of what happens.

So Im watching the new video series and Im on this video.

Im taking my model to UE4.

I did a short video asking my questions. Here is the video with my questions.

I must say Im really impressed with this series of videos. I requested some videos just like this from Substance and you guys pulled through. I cant thank you all enough. I havnt worked with painter for about 3 months now,, been studying UE4 BluePrints.

I have noticed the more items I put in my shelf the longer it takes for the shelf to fully load all the icons. My shelf takes at least 5 minutes to load all the icons. Is this normal?   Win 10, 4g video card, 24g RAM, 12 core Xeon at 3.4   Thanks Chuck

So Im following along the Substance in UE4 Youtube videos   I used all 4k maps in designer and under the UE4 material instance settings drop down the highest it goes is 2K. I found another thread on the forums here and they said a work around was to leave all your maps Absolute at 4K, I tried that and my maps come in UE4 at 2K still.
The process Wes does in the video series is just about over my head and I might have some noob setting or something I forgot or dont know about.  Am I doing something wrong or is the substance plugin maxed out at 2K.
Thanks Chuck

My wish list :)
I found this video    and  I would really like to see an updated version utilizing all of Substance new fancy nodes, tools, bakers. Some might say they are tired of repeats but there has been a lot of great improvements.
Im trying to do a gun with Substance Live and some areas Im having trouble with and would like to see in a new video.
  1) Show the Gun in 3ds Max and Maya (small video for each app would be nice) and explain what all is needed from Max and Maya. Material ID's , high low naming convention, show the correct  FBX exporter settings that Substance likes.
2) Show how to put knurls on round steel parts.
3) Show how to put knurls or patterns into wooden grips.
4) Gun Maker Symbols and serial numbers.
5) Neon sights
6) Some type of fabric with blood stains. Gun sling etc.
7)  Scope lens with red dot.
8) Take it all in UE4 and Unity( two separate videos) with all the Substance goodness.

I can find most all of this in other videos from Allegorithmic, just out dated and now with version 5,we have tons of new coolness.

Im slowly plugging away texturing my gun but I cant image how much more efficient  Wes (Substance Group) with years of experience would create this one click gun substance with all the new bells and whistles Substance has.

Like I say its a wish list, and I know you guys are busier than a woodpecker in a lumber yard.
Thanks Chuck

I got my weapon modeled both high and low and the UV's are done. I want to use both SD and SP to build the Materials for UE4. I have been studying Substance now for a few weeks on my days off and I think Im finally ready to start.
 1) Does the bake by sub mesh work? or should I resort to exploding the mesh?
2) What maps do you all bake in MAX or Maya before taking it into substance? Or can I bake all in Substance?
3) Any other tips or pointers for first timer would be appreciated.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Technical Support - [SOLVED] ID Map
 on: March 23, 2015, 11:31:31 pm
If I have different colors assigned to different polygon faces in 3DS Max, export FBX to Painter with UVs created, is it possible to bake an ID map using Painter? I usually bake the ID map with Max but if its possible to do in painter thats one less step I will need to do in Max.
