This is indeed pretty cool, well done!

We don't participate of course:) just wanted to share a quick doodle I co-created with Mikael Queric (UX Designer at Allegorithmic). Hope you like it :)

Wow, that happened fast, thank you!

Now I feel almost obligated to submit something myself 8) Thanks again!

Great, can't wait to see what you upload! Already a lot of assets submitted, which makes me glad :)

Ok guys,

After numerous internal discussions, and with the help of our lawyer, we agree that CC-BY-SA is NOT the proper license to be used here.

My intent was to make sure that what could be found on Share could be used for any purpose, personal or  commercial work both included. But I also wanted to make sure to protect contributors, in such a way that would impeach anyone to simply download your creation and basically resell it somewhere else...

It looked to me that CC-BY-SA was the answer, but in fact it does pose a threat to the entire production integrating content licensed under these terms. That was obviously not my intent, and I misread the text.

The proper license does not seem to exist and we might in the future work on a license reflecting what I originally described and truly want, but in the meantime we picked a CC-BY license:

I sincerely apologize for the mess... and hope this will be found practical to our community.

Thanks for making this happen! Much appreciated!

But.. license for these is CC-BY-SA?

Doesn't that mean that if we include anything from substance share to our products, our own product must distributed with CC-BY-SA license as well, right?

"ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original. "

Yea, while CC-BY-SA technically allows commercial use, it makes it useless for that purpose. One person could buy your product and then copy and sell it themselves.

Well, let me clarify: what that means is (please read the entire text there:, if you download an asset from Substance Share, you can use it in a game, to produce a film, etc. whether it is a commercial or personal project. You JUST have to credit somewhere the author and the link to the source.

Then, IF you modify the asset AND decide on distributing the derived asset by itself, THEN, because what you distribute is based on the original asset that is licensed according to CC-BY-SA, the new, modified asset has to be licensed under CC-BY-SA too.

This is to basically prevent from anyone downloading the assets, barely modify them and redistribute them (or even sell them) on other platforms.

I hope that helps! :)

Loving the shot too. Great composition.

Super nice, glad to see that.

Thank you sir

@Pino: Not sure what "being French" implies in your mind really (on top of the fact that there are several nationalities in the company). Please keep this kind of outdated clichés for yourself, I will not accept that in this forum. I know you are trying to help us with jdouglas' feedback, but this was quite clumsy.

@jdouglas: sorry to hear that you are not happy with your purchase, you can contact us directly and we will take care of that.

Looking very good Thomas!

Sure, here is my work file for Abyss:

It by no means is clean nor perfect. It is more the result of a research process, so it can be messy at times :)

I hope that helps though.
