Hi Guys!

Is there a way to control an exposed parameter from a substance imported in Unreal in the Material editor. So for example I have the texture tiling through the Substance graph instance. Is there any way to have control of that through the material editor directly and not through the substance graph? I would like to use that parameter for further calculations.... Thanks

Hi guys need some help!

I'm trying to align the bricks in a texture I draw a line mask and then use the transform to shift the bricks left or right to align them one below the other. (image on the left is the original)...the problem are the visible seams at the edges of the mask...whats the best way to not have any seams? Any help appreciated

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Material layering for ue4
 on: September 22, 2019, 06:00:23 pm
I am trying to get this to work but I have an issue on export if someone out there can help. I thought the whole point of this workflow would be that you work on the masks only and on export you get a compilation of the 3 masks in addition to the tiliable textures used as materials. I downloaded the layering substance material that Wes pointed to in his tut and that seems fine in ue4. My problem is that on export (and yes I have the export shader parameters tickbox on on export dialogue box) I only get 3 masks and a json file. When I try to import the files in ue4 I get a weird message when importing the json file to choose something from Data Table Option...and I have no clue if what I'm doing is correct or not...and if on importing the json file the tileables will magically appear in ue4!

It seems to me that even though this workflow is so much better than many others given allegorithmic has not paid much attention to it since it was released...I have not found anyone explaining this in detail...even allegorithmic tutorials are half explained without any flow of exactly how it works...

In any case if anyone uses this workflow and has a few minutes of their precious time to explain to me exactly how to go from subp to ue4 with masks and tileables it will be much appreciated...thanks

I have two major issues with substance source in ue4:

1 The thumbnails in ue4 are white (version 4.20..)..cant see anything...!

2 But on a more serious level....some of the substances  that I downloaded - blindly - to test have no tiling texture...for example the Concrete Bricks and the concrete Brushed - I downloaded both and none have the functionality to tile! I tried going into the material and adding a texcord but nothing...has anyone else have this some have it and some others dont? what an inconsistency...!

Made entirely using dynamic lighting without any need for rendering or baking.

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Unusable Clone tool?!
 on: April 08, 2018, 06:19:51 pm
I have tried the clone and smear tool with the exact instructions over and worked once or perhaps twice and it seems so unusable...others with similar issues or is it just me?! So frustrated....

Importing substance sources (sbsar) materials in substance designer libraries? I have gone and directed the path of my downloaded source files from preferences created a file in the library and made a filter with the URl to the path to filter the materials in some way but nothing is showing up anyway I try. How can it be done to view the sub source files in the library? Thanks
