Hello,

I have been using Substance in a unity project for a while now and up until the latest version of the Substance Unity Addon everything was working fine. However with the latest version, I have been experiencing crashes within Unity when changing a property through script.

Is it possible to revert the addon back to a previous version where it worked?

We're looking into it with Valve, hopefully that's something we can do.

Thank you, that would make a huge difference if possible.

Is it possible to get a discount on the Steam version for the next year for owning one here?
I used to upgrade every year here where I could, but now I can't here I would be fine with moving over to Steam if it isn't priced too high.

@pheonixflame9  Steam should be a good alternative. More often than not if you get your license during one of the numerous sales during the year, you'll get your license for cheaper than you would have on our website.

I'm confused about this part.

All I know is that the perpetual licenses are not being sold anymore, nor will be updated/upgraded to a later version.
What do you mean get one on steam? Are they being updated still after the year?
I already have perpetual licenses on this site, are you saying I should get it on Steam?

I am getting more confused as this goes by. All I know that I want to avoid is losing my perpetual for a measly 50% off for 6 months.

Words honestly cannot describe my disappointment.

It's just more broken promises, and a middle finger to those loyal users who don't have the funds to fork out for all these subscriptions.
Only those already successful get to use the software that creates success. Same Adobe cycle.

Seriously, times and funds are really hard right now, due to everything that is going on. So now I have another kick in the gut of losing my software I am reliant on.

If they really cared about business, then they could easily put a perpetual licence with an income limit. I would be fine with that, at least then I would know I am in a position to afford all these subscriptions when needed, and they get my money.

Right now I'm at a loss.

Right, so I was unaware that we would be losing our perpetual licence upgrades/updates at the end of this year, so now I'm stuck trying to figure out how on earth I can keep up to date.

When Adobe took over I was specifically told that I would be able to keep on upgrading my perpetual. So that was a lie.

Look. I'm indie. I have no available funds to keep paying another monthly subscription, but I need this sort of software to earn the money to pay for it all. Adobe is converting everything to subscription services that add up and make paying for them hard. These perpetual licenses are the only thing keeping my head above water.
Why can't this be done so you have to go monthly over a certain amount, but the perpetual option is always there for lower incomes? It would keep the software in everyones hands instead of just promoting those who already have the money to keep paying.
To keep a software up to date I have to pretty much sacrifice another software I may rely on.

I'm sorry but I am very dissapointed here.

If we have hundreds of substance downloads saved up for Substance Source, will this change-over effect those downloads?
I'm not talking about ones we already have downloaded, but the points we have to get new ones when we need them?
Will Substance Source be removed or converted to bring it closer to the Adobe website?
Should we spend all our downloads now or can you guarentee us the ability to keep our download points for when we need them?

Thank you.

You know...  I trust you guys. I don´t trust adobe, but I trust you and I respect everything you´ve done.

This part is important to get across. Certainly had no problems with any of you guys and have always felt like this company cared for its userbase. Every problem, whatever out situation, you tried to help us.

The respect for your team and company is the very reason we feel we have everything to lose from this deal.

To all,

We already said this: nothing is happening to your licenses. We are not going to lock them, cancel them or whatever. We never did this and this is not going to happen.
You are not losing your Source points, you can still use our rent to own offer, maintenance, Substance Share and all the other great stuffs of Substance.
We may make changes in the future, as we did several times in the past, and we will do as we always did, by letting you know about it and being fair.

Cheers,

"by letting you know about it and being fair." I take it you mean well in advanced?
Because the last thing we want is an overnight change of heart if Adobe decides it wants to incorporate it in its subscription model and the perpetual lincenses and substance source becomes a problem for them.

It must be frustrating to repeat yourselves, especially when your limited to what you can say as you can't legally speak for the future, but we just want to be secure in the knowledge that we at least get what we paid for and can continue to download and use our software regardless of future changes.

The responses are appreciated. Even if we are frustrated we seem to be going through this adobe nonsense again and again with tools we love.

What I REALLY want to know is this:

What happens to perpetual licenses. Will they lose access, will they be stuck with the last update they had or will they go on as normal guarenteed?

What happens to Substance Source and our available downloads? Do we need to use them all up? Will they remain?

Adobe always adds things to their subscription service and this will be no different. So we need to know what it happening to our purchases and for it to be clear.

Thank you.

Still want official word on this. Especially for us who own hundreds of downloads from substance source saved.

I lost Flash, I lost Mixamo now I feel like I may have lost Substance.
Everytime I find something I love to work with, Adobe snaps it up and shoves a ridiculus subscription payment on it down the line. This was flexible and let me use it in my startup. Now I'm not sure what I will actually own.

They don't understand how important accessability of software is to help build small buisness. They are just a monopoly that tailors to the already set money makers.

Forgot to update you on this,

The update did in fact fix the issue. Thanks :)

Ah so it's not just me. Thanks for the reply.

Hi, when I try to download any substance from Substance Source within painter I get the following message:

[Script] :28: ResourcesError: Preload of C:/Users/Chris/Documents/Allegorithmic/Substance Painter/plugins/substance-source/Temp/jungle_ground_roots.sbsar failed. Doesn't point to a valid resource.

[Script] :80: FileIOError: Write failed

This happens with every substance and I may have wasted a couple of downloads to test it. (Wasn't sure how the downloads system worked not having tested it for years)

Am I missing something?

Thanks
