C4D r22 (Mac) seems to have fixed the Invalid Substance Asset File errors for 'valid' sbsar files. R21 gave me the Invalid error for numerous Substance Source sbsar files and all the decal sbsar files I tried to load. No such errors in r22 (Mac).

Take a look at your displacement settings. Maxon's Substance Engine plugin appears to set a default displacement of 10cm at a value of 100%.

It seems to be fixed in C4D r22 on Mac. All Substance Source decals that I tested as well as some non decal Substances refused to load in C4D r21 Mac.
