SubstanceSubstance - Discussions - Creating anime textures
 on: October 09, 2018, 09:48:42 pm
Messing around trying to create anime style textures in SP and SD for use with UE. Trying to get either the clean CGI toon look or the old style hand drawn.  I already got shadders for UE4, that will give these looks but I was hoping to create base textures so that I can use the art outside of UE 4.

My most successful attempt at this point was simply removing height map, roughness and metalic maps. Which gives a cartoonish look but not what I am after

Was thinking about creating the color textures in SD with varibles, color, brightness and edge darkening, that can be adjusted in engine

Any advice on this would be appreciated

I know the official word is "Unity has the patch and we wait on them" but was hoping more info has come out

I see that there is a new substance api for unity due out in the next few months. Wondering if this means we will have to wait for it to get SD6 into Unity

Anyone know of a good video or tutorial that covers painting in anime style using painter? I am thinking the easiest thing to do would be create the materials in SD but was hoping there was a easier default methods already in painter

Substance PainterSubstance Painter - Discussions - Painter 2 and Blender
 on: June 29, 2016, 01:31:03 am

I am currently user Painter 1, and looking, but holding off, upgrading to Painter 2. Someone told me that painter 2 can export PDR materials into Blender. While I have been able to export my textures from Painter 1, I have never been lucky at getting them to go PDR

So I wanted to know if it is in fact true that Painter 2 PDR format is Blender compatible?

PS: I also noticed that the Substance to UE4 tutorials have been taken of the Allegorithmic youtube channel. Is this because new ones are coming for Painter 2

I want to upgrade to painter 2 but have a few concerns

 1. I was a live account holder, paid 1 time fee last month, and as of last week my account stated I was not a live user. I am going to assume the old live accounts (that are paid off) are no longer valid. Please tell me if I am wrong and that it will come back

 2. I notice I can upgrade to a live account by buying painter 2 (which is why I came to the conclusion I did for issue 1) but there is only the one time payment option. Are you going to bring back the monthly payment or is that not an option in this case

SubstanceSubstance - Purchases & Licenses - Live account issues
 on: March 14, 2016, 09:54:55 pm
Just noticed my live subscription is no longer showing up on my account page. I just upgraded to live a month ago with the single payment options

  A few strange things
1. On my order page it says I bought live in Oct 2015. If I download the PDF invoice it does show the correct date of Feb 2016

2. Not sure if it is related but if I go to substance share no live drops show up

3. All my software shows up in may downloads page, with the correct Feb 2016 purchase date

Everything seems to be working, so there is no rush. I see there are a few people having this same issue

SubstanceSubstance - Purchases & Licenses - When to upgrade
 on: March 08, 2016, 09:39:51 pm
I just seen that painter 2 was coming next week. If I understand the past announcements correctly then sometime this year Designer 6 should also come out.

I know you guys normally give some sort of discount to owners of the current version if they upgrade within a set time frame. Are you only doing this for individual tools or will it also be an option for upgrading live as well? For example: Will I need to upgrade Painter this month and Designer later this year (to get the discounts) or will you guys offer some sort of live upgrade where people can simply upgrade their live 2015 pack to 2016.

I see on the forums that substance live will now be a yearly thing, which when change when the new application upgrades are released. Right now we are in live 2015 and sometime this year live 2016 will start.

Now I understand that if you are currently under the pay to own model that when 2016 goes live you can either upgrade to it or simply continue with 2015. My question is will it still be possible for new users, who own one of the older software versions (painter 1 Designer 5) to still upgrade to live 2015 once 2016 goes live hits or will that path only be open to people currently in the program?

I am thinking about including SD in my workflow.

The thing is I have an AMD R9 390 which clearly has no cuda cores.

I was wondering if I buy a NVidia card and place it as a second card in my system will SD allow me to use the cuda cores on that card, even if my monitor is hooked up to my AMD card?

On other question.

I know I can use my CPU for rendering i Ray. I currently have an i7 5820 (6 core). DO you think that will be powerful enough that I may not need to worry about cuda cores
