SubstanceSubstance - Discussions - Windows or Mac ?

Hi there ! Im not sure if this is the right place to ask but here I go. Im planning to buy a new computer because my actual pc is getting old.

I am a 3D game artist and always used Windows to work with Maya, zbrush, substance painter, etc.
But now I have a very big doubt, should buy a new PC or may I go for a Macbook pro ?

It would be great to know if any of you have worked with windows and mac and could tell me which is better for this kind of software.
I know Apple ones are most expensive than windows, but is it worth ?

Of course I use high poly & low poly meshes to bake.
I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem.
Is substance painter not compatible with any specific hardware?

It happens with medium/big projects.
When I try to send a crash report, most of the times it doesnt work.
In my last test my PC rebooted twice.
I made a clean install of windows twice and Im pretty sure that it is a hardware problem.
I downloaded a software to see temperatures and my processor is kind of overheating I think (i7 3370k reaches 72º Celsius or 345,15 Fº for a moment and substance crash),

Does substance painter use the processor at full performance when baking? or it just uses the GPU ?

I have a weird problem. I was using windows 10 and substance crashed all the time. Of course I reinstalled Nvidia drivers and changed TDR.
So I made a clean windows 7 install, then installed nvidia drivers and after that substance painter, it just keep crashing with a clean install. I really dont know what to do.

Any idea ? Any hardware unsopported by substance ?

Intel i7 3370k
Nvidia GTX1060 (MSI)
venegance 16GB Ram (2x8 dual channel)
Windows 7 ultimate x64

Anyone knows how can I talk to a developer?

There are  a couple of problems here.

First of all, you have named MATERIALS as xx_low. You must have low and high poly MESHES with the same name.
Chain_low (low poly MESH) & Chain_highi (High poly mesh).
You need this to bake with "Match - by mesh name". That weird normal is because SP didnt find matching meshes.

On the other hand, the option "Match - Always", bakes meshes based on their position in the world, Regardless of matching names. As you can see that option worked better than the other. Try using smoothing groups to fix those cutting edges !

One more thing is that you can have one single material for this object. Materials in SP are like UV textures, a new material is a new UV texture. You dont want all those textures for a single mesh.

- low and high MESHES with same name but with _low _high
- Smoothing groups
- Try just one material for this object

Hi, Im working with SP 2.3.1 (cant upgrade, I need to use this version of SP) and it just crashes when I bake one or more materials.

My Desktop computer:
Windows 10 Aniversary edition (Had to upgrade because Nvidia drivers)
Nvidia GTX1060 (MSI)
16Gb Ram
Intel i7 3770k

I have another desktop computer with same specs at work running windows 7 and has no problems.
I attached a log file I exported from substance painter.

Any idea ?
