Hi

Im doing some tests as it seems when you mix dielectrics such as plastic with conductive metals the metalness workflow in Redshift seems to not produce the correct reflections for the plastic.  If I add some value to the Reflectiveness which is normally black it gives some reflections back to the plastics but that's not right and does not look correct.  Does it seem dielectrics are not getting the correct fresnel?  Same HDR used in both renders.

Unless Im misunderstood Substance Painters role, glass is always done in your DCC application using the Vray Material and has nothing to do with Substance Painter?

As already mentioned You need to set up glass in the Vray material assigned to the geometry that should be glass.  No diffuse color, just transparency, and refraction, reflection.  Now I don't use Maya, and my version of Vray is in C4D in which I still use the Advance Material but in general its always them combo, Transparency, Reflection, and Refraction.  If you do a search on youtube your find tons of glass tutorials for vray on there.

Now as my opening question indicates it could be Im not informed of glass use in Painter but I wouldn't have thought to try to do glass in painter other than for pre viz in painter, but rather make it in Vray applied to the geometry in question.

Can I get a perpetual license of Substance Painter and Substance Designer on steam after october 31th of 2020?

Yes, perpetual licenses on Steam will still be available.

Can that steam licence be linked to Substance account like before.  I actually thought after Oct 31 2020 it was the end to perpetual no matter where purchased from but it seems thats not the case, its just last chance to upgrade a perpetual licence,

Thank you.  And for clarity can I upgrade on 31st Oct or do I need to upgrade before 31st as I don't want to wait till 31st to find the offer removed?

Assuming Substance 2021 comes out after Oct 31 I assumed that you cant buy a perpetual license from anywhere after Oct 31st, so are you talking about subscription here?

Substance - Purchases & Licenses - Does upgrade get me a years maintenance for features for the year?

Hi

My perpetual license ran out of maintenance a while ago and does not have the option to add another maintenance but it does for an upgrade.  My question is does getting an upgrade get me all features for the next year assuming the upgrade has maintenance for a year with it, not just bug fixes bug features? for v2020?

Substance - Purchases & Licenses - October 31st last chance for perpetual maintenance, what time zone is Oct 31st?

Hi

Im in the Uk and its getting closer to the deadline for the last chance to add a maintenance to my perpetual licence on Oct 31st 2020.

As I dont want to miss it or add it a day early what time zone falls within the 31st as to when I should purchase it.  I dont want to lose a day in case a last update under that maintenance comes out 31st Oct 2021 when mine would expire 30th?

When a maintenance ends, it doesn't mean that's the last build you get access to.
You also get access to all x.x releases after that until the next major .x update so all issues potentially introduced with the latest large update should be fixed by then.

Thank you for making that clear.  So after October 2021 I still get maintenance updates that fix issues from the time during October 2020 - 2021?

Here is the problem with whats happening with the maintenance ending for perpetual licences, there is no guarantee that when the maintenance ends that the features included at that time are bug-free and fully working as they should.  This is the reason I dont like bug updates merged in with feature upgrades, they should be kept separate.  Bugs are there because they either were not fixed before the feature was released or a feature upgrade broke things.

My concern, therefore, is what state will the Substance Painter be left in for the last of the perpetual maintenance on October 31, 2021.  Whatever that will be is what perpetual owners will be left with for good.

Its fine to say if you don't like it go elsewhere, but the simple fact is there is no substitute for Substance Painter, its very unique, and that's not taking into account the time spent mastering it.  Yes it is what is it, but its more than fair to not be happy about it and vent a little.

PS: Marvelous Designer is going the same route, they all will, then at some point to those who are now ok with it will come to realize that it works out very, very expensive to keep all your software you may be using now.

+1 Substance Painter needs to give Mari some competition in this regard as there is simply nothing out there that matches Mari.  Warp tool and better project through workflows.

Thanks Gary.  I have Until October 31 2020 to get my last maintenance for Indi, by Oct 2021 it should be stable and by then I hope that the texture size limit in the viewport exceeds 8k.

Substance - Purchases & Licenses - Can I get another maintenance that overlaps to make the most of todays deals?

Hi Guys.

Being BlackFriday has a deal on maintenance upgrades and its 28th Nov 2019, If I wish to get my last maintenance on 31 Oct 2020 it would mean my maintenance would overlap by just over a month.  Can I purchase a overlapping maintenance as If not id lose my last chance to get that extra year of upgrades just because getting a maintenance upgrade today will exceed its cover past Oct 31 2020?

Is there a time limit to get a new maintenance for Perpetual licence?  I see changes coming since Adobe was running things and anticipate there is or will be a deadline to get my last maintanance, whats the low down on these things?

I must get the feature painting across texture sets/UDIMS.
