Substance DesignerSubstance Designer - Technical Support - Cannot activate SD 2019

Hello,

I have been having issues getting my work substance designer license to activate, I keep getting this error window and I tried following instructions and it still repeats the same error. I tried reinstalling SD, redownloading the license, and moving the license to a local folder but to no success so far.

Also as a side less important note, the "Quit" button doesn't quit, it just acts like I hit "Next" and gives me another failed install error, I have to hit Back to the previous page then Quit.

Theres a node called "Bitmap to Material" in substance designer, I think thats what you're looking for.

Yeah, you can just create some new outputs and have one graph store info for spec/gloss and metal/rough, if you're using a sbsar directly then you just have to make sure you set the Usage in the output nodes to the correct map slots.

I think it should work for you, I think the BnW spots is covering more than you're expecting it to. I made this real quick as an example.

Heres a method I use all the time, hopefully it makes sense. You just subtract the layer you used max lighten by the layer before you used max lighten, then you just clamp it to a black and white mask using histogram scan. If you don't want a harsh edge on the mask you can turn down the position on the histogram scan by just a little bit to soften the edges.

In the gradient map you can turn down the alpha of the part you don't want to see as shown below.

Sorry for the late response with Christmas and all taking up a lot of my free time,

I wouldn't plug your height information directly into your basecolor, you could try using a Curvature Smooth which takes a normal map as the input and makes a nice edge detail map. or you could try Ambient Occlusion which takes the height information before you turn it into a normal map to create all the shadow information for the crevasses.

I would definitely recommend looking at the tutorials online either from the Allegorithmic youtube channel or if you have some money you want to invest into learning this, I would say check out Josh Lynches tutorials, that how I got started.

Here's what I did for a start to the patten, I used a tile sampler with the pattern set to square with the settings shown below and then I added a bevel with the distance set to 0.005 and the smoothing set to 0.1

Hi eve, check your library paths by default there should be nothing there unless you were trying to add something custom like me. you may have double linked your main library some how.
