Thank you for your quick response and for that clarification. I had, wrongly, assumed that I would not be able to access using my old log in once I had transitioned and stopped my old Indie subscription. It is great to hear that I was wrong in that.

Can this transition of points be treated urgently. I have a monthly Indie subscription and would like to transition to the Adobe 3D package and take advantage of the "limited time" offer to do so. However, my understanding is that migrating would mean losing access, for an indefinite period, to the several hundred credits I have built up, unless I keep my old Indie subscription running in parallel i.e pay twice.
Also does my monthly Indie subscription stop at the end of the current month or will it be renewed for the next monthly period, and future months, until I can migrate with points transferred?


I currently have an indie subscription.
1. Will that indie subcscription automatically transition to the new 3D texturing subscription?
2. Will all assets I have bought from Substance Source remain licensed
3. Will asset points built up in Substance source be carried forward?
4. I also have a separate Adobe CC account. Will that remain separate?

I'm looking for the "Output Computation" switch in graph attributes but cannot find it. In the position I expected to find it I see "Exposed in SBSAR" but hovering over the label for that switch it says "Root disabled" so now I'm confused.

I'm using 20.2.1 on Windows 10 v 20H2.  Has the switch I'm looking for been removed?

In Substance Designer/Painter I can set Preferences and choose where on my PC disk drives to save materials/resources. I cannot find this in the Alchemist Beta (0.5.3) . Does it exist and am I missing it? If not, are there plans to add this?

Hi I just received an email from Allegorithmic saying that, with a current subscription I can now download the beta of Substance Alchemist.
There was a link in the email which takes me to the Alchemist product page and, on that page, a link to "Get Project Substance Alchemist".
That link though takes me to the downloads page with all the Substance products - except Alchemist.


Wow - so much negativity and so many folk who can predict the future (and all bleak).

I hope that bringing together the two companies brings the Substance tools to a wider customer base and conversely brings some real innovation and 3D expertise to Adobe.

As a subscriber to Adobe CC and Substance I welcome the potential opportunity to bring together two subscriptions.
Whilst I understand the reluctance of some to use subscriptions I also remember the pushback against Adobe when they moved to that model. However Adobe have now have more Photoshop users than they ever had on the perpetual model.

I wish both companies the best in this.


After more searching I found the answer in another thread on this forum.,23267.msg92420/

Which boiled down to :

Use baked maps and a mesh to build and view the substance in Designer
Replace those maps with Input Nodes with usage attributes set to match the additional maps in Painter, listed here  )
Then export to Painter

Newbie here and so far very much enjoying Designer. However I have a problem/question about the creation of substances in Designer to use in Substance Painter.

I can create procedural materials, expose parameters and export them to the Shelf in painter - which works fine.

I can create a material which uses a baked mesh (e.g. position) in Designer and that also works fine.

So far I have not found a way of exporting that material, that utilises a baked mesh, into Painter so that it picks up the baked mesh (again let's say position) from a different object in a similar way to the smart materials in Painter.

I have searched on-line but maybe I am entering the wrong question. Apologies if this is something that is staring me in the face, like I said I am new to this. :)
