What would be the best way to test the impact on a shader level, of using a Substance graph versus exported Maps? Interested in finding out the benefit for particular projects of interactivity vs speed.

What impact does the Graph have itself, or are the outputs acting as Bitmaps when built?

What is the process for removing or deleting a Project? Docs don't seem to shed any light on this.

Login errors are still plaguing the applications use for me. Presumably these are being worked on?
90% of the time I look at the app, I have been logged out, with 'Error 429'.

Any estimation on when the Substance plugin will be ready for 4.23?

Trying to create a grid texture, with text present in each tile that auto-generate depending on how many tiles are shown. Any ideas on how this could be achieved, or is even possible?

Not sure, there are a lot of applications listed on that USD description that don't have official USD support as of yet.

Currently bakes are handled by the CPU so that won't make a difference, but we'll support RTX soon so I would go with the 2060.


Not sure exactly what you're referring to but Substance Painter has USD export

I'm still uncertain as to the design decision to have materials which have been deleted by the user – to be searchable by the app. Keeping backups is understandable, but surely if a user has decided to delete a material, that should not be surfaced in the app?

If I drag an SBSAR into Alchemist, and then delete it from the resources list, it is still searchable by text but invisible to the UI. Where are these resources being stored?

I can imagine this list becoming inpractical after multiple materials being dropped in, which I have then discarded.

Has anybody had issues with Datasmith objects in Unreal exporting to Painter via live link to crash Unreal?

The same object imported by straight FBX works fine. Not sure if this is a technical limitation of Datasmith, whether Painter is causing the crash or Unreal, anyone at Allegorithmic aware of the issue?



FYI, Allegorithmic marketing are currently pushing this feature as working.

Weirdly, it seems to work with the Sample files. Not sure of what's making those work and other meshes not; a workaround would be handy though until a fix is released.
