I was just trying substancepainter and wondering a few things

Can you fill a selection with a material instead of just a color?
Can i disable the cubemap showing in the background while still having it light the mesh?
Is there a symmetry option for painting?

thanks

I can help with your first question, but it's not ideal yet;

Go to File / Import Image and select bitmap/material you want to use
Click on the Stencil icon on the left column (third one down)
Over in the right column under Material - basic, click on Separate Channels Mode and select the image you just loaded.
You can now paint on your object using this as a stencil.

Maybe someone else has a better method, but as of now this is the only way I know. Like I said, NOT IDEAL. But, I'm sure we'll see fill functions in the coming weeks.

SCRATCH THIS ANSWER: Watch this video near minute 8:00 and it's already available, though I've not tried it yet myself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eer4XPWXr18#t=17

-Symmetry is not yet available unfortunately.

-You can change the opacity of the background (the display, not the shading on your mesh) by adjusting the opacity setting in the panel "viewer settings".

:)
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.
