Choosing 'File>Recent Files> foo' should open that file, not just close the current file.

Choosing 'File>Recent Files> foo' should open that file, not just close the current file.
That's already the case.
Check that the file you are trying to open actually exists on the disk and has not been moved/removed.
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.
