Author Topic: Light baking does not use height?  (Read 1177 times)

I thought that the new light baking filter would bake height information into the base color channel but I can't seem to get it to work.

I have a texture set consisting of a cloth material below a layer of wrinkles (height only).  The attached pictures show the shirt material without filter and then the color channel with the filter applied.

Am I missing something or is this just not supported?

Well first, in order to make the filter works properly you need to bake the necessary maps (even if you don't have a normal map for your mesh, you can still bake). The AO, the Curvature and so on are still needed.

Regarding the height itself, the filter can't convert an height channel into the right information to be used and baked. This is a current limitation but we have hopes to improve that.
