Author Topic: Substance Painter Crash upon Startup  (Read 1029 times)

Hello,

I recently updated to Substance Painter 1.5.6, since then the software is unable to startup. I tried to follow the procedure stated on this page : https://support.allegorithmic.com/documentation/display/SPDOC/Shelf+is+empty , no clue still.

Here is a link to DxDiag :

And here is the Substance Painter Log File upon startup :

Sidenote : I reinstalled version 1.5.5, it doesn't load either, oddly, it was loading before I updated to 1.5.6 :x.

Thank you for your time.

Anthony C.

When you mention that Painter is unable to start up, what happens exactly ?
Otherwise, try to remove the shelf folder completely (make a backup if needed) in your "My Documents" folder before launching 1.5.5.
Don't forget your log file. It can be exported from the Help menu of the software.

Good afternoon Froyok.

Painter just displays a white window, and that's it. No GUI, nothing. Plain white.
It did remove it all, and nothing happens.

Can you share a screenshot ?

Thank you for your quick answer by the way  :)

Well, you weren't kidding about the white screen.  :P
Are you on Windows 10 ? Can you try different driver versions for your GPU ?

He he yes.

I am on windows 10 indeed. I rolled back to Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers.

I've suceeded in getting the GUI for a couple of seconds before SP freezes on me and gets the same behavior again, white page still.

Okay, seems like the problem has been fixed.
It seems like it was crashing because of double screen display. I switched windows back to 1 monitor and it fixed the problem.. somehow.

I'll be testing it out during the next hours, I hope it will keep working.

Cheers !

Whaaaaat?
"...It seems like it was crashing because of double screen display..."
Does SP wount work in doubledisplay? or it can get crash?
(sorry about my engl.)

It works. Almost everybody at Allegorithmic use two screens without any issues.
In this case I suspect an issue with the drivers of the GPU directly rather than Painter being the problem.
