Author Topic: Painter Crashes on Startup  (Read 2824 times)

Material dock starts to load and the software crashes immediately. I tried to send the bug report but it kept failing.

Hello froyok, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, that method doesn't seem to work and it continues to crash. Any other thoughts on how I can fix this?

We are working on a new version of Painter to fix a problem with the crash report system.
Until this fix is live, I can only suggest to go back to a previous version.

Starting today I have the very same crash every single time I start Substance Painter on my work system.
I already tried deleting all possible shelf files and also uninstalled / reinstalled Painter via Steam. No success.
Home system is fine.

I sent 2 crash reports today, I hope they help.

It's still crashing for me every time I start SP.

My home system is the same graphics card (GTX 780, same brand) and also uses the same driver (355.98) but there everything is working smoothly.
Where does Painter store its preferences or user profile? I'd like to try to delete this.

At the moment I can't get any work done in Painter. :(

We are working on the fix. Until a new version if out, the crash reports are useless for us unfortunately. I will keep you up to date once a new version of Painter will be available.

Thank you very much!  8)

The new build is out (version 1.5.7) !
So please crash Substance painter and report the issue !  ;D
The best is to give me the same e-mail as the one you will use in the crash report.

OK thanks!

I just crashed the new version and sent a crash report using the email address connected to my forum user account. :D
I hope it helps you find something!

Hey Steffen, can you try a new setup ?
Can you remove your shelf folder and then download the standalone version (not the steam version) ?
You can link your steam account in your Allegorithmic account to unlock any versions of Painter.

Uninstalled the Steam version, reinstalled via standalone installer, same crash ;)

I sent a new crash report.

Did you removed the shelf too before reinstalling ?

Yes, I deleted the whole "Substance Painter" folder in Documents before installing.

When I start Substance Painter this folder gets filled with "samples" and "shelf" (742 files in 30 folders) and right after that the crash happens.

I see, thanks for the info, we are still trying to reproduce the crash.
