Author Topic: Is it possible to mask by Polygon?  (Read 1099 times)

Hello everyone,

My name is Will, and I'm pretty new to Substance Painter and Designer. I have just started painting and I wanted to ask if it is possible to create a mask by selecting the polygon faces. I know you can mask with the brush, but I was thinking about this for fine details you where you don't want to affect any other part of the model. Is this something that's possible?
I'm old enough to know better... but young enough to still do it anyway....

yes you can, simply select the Geometry Decal tool, and then you can tell it to mask based on vert, polygon, object and UV.

Thanks for the assist. I see now where you can do that. It offers a lot of options that I didn't really get with Zbrush painting.
