Author Topic: [SOLVED] Created SBSAR file wont works correctly in Painter/Designer  (Read 4546 times)

Hi,

SD 5 substances are not working correctly in SP 1.3. We are working on an update for Painter that will update the substance engine to version 5 for Painter as well. I'm sorry for this issue. The update is coming soon.

Cheers,

Wes

Thanks for the reply Wes.
Did we get an update for Designer, too?
Because it wont works also in Designer.

HI Malo,

The substances you created in SD 4 are not working in SD5? Can you post a screen shot of where the substance is breaking?

Cheers,
Wes

Hi Wes

No, the substance is created with SD5 and if i try the published sbsar in SD5, it is wrong, in the same way as in Painter.

You find the sbs file in reply #4 of this threat, if you want to take a look over it.
In reply #9 you find some pictures with the difference in SD5.
Dropdown list, Roughness and Height Slider are missing.

I see it on the filesize, too.
sbs have 50kb and after publishing the sbsar have 5kb
It is ten times smaller.

Cheers
Malo

seems like it may be a problem/bug on your end Malo, here's a pic of your substance published in SD5 and opened in SD5, and all the settings are there. And yes, Substance Archives are supposed to be much smaller than the Substance itself.

Thanks for the help.
I get the same result if i use it as sbs. But after Publishing, i get a wrong result.
To be sure, if there is realy no problem on my side, please kilck on publish, put the created sbsar file in your libraray and use it from there.
Would be nice to know if it is wrong, too on your side.

Here is my result if use the sbs (unpublished) and the sbsar (published) file.
See attachment.
The "red" substance is the original ones, that you have used.
But the "green" substance is wrong.

Looks like a bug to me.

I am on 5.0.1 in Designer and 1.3.1 in Painter and my result is wrong.
Thanks both of you for your time.

Hi Malo,

What version of the Substance Engine are you using in SD, the CPU or GPU engine?

I tried the sbs and when I publish in version 5.0.2, open the sbsar and instance it into a new graph, I have access to all of the parameters.

Cheers,

Wes

SSE2, Win7 64 Bit, i7 2600k 3.4Ghz, GTX 560 2GB.
Could it be a limitation of the Indie Version?

Hi Malo, I think Wes means what publishing engine... you have a choice in SD5 to choose to publish your sbsar with SD5 or SD4 version.  This is because many of the integrations with other apps are not yet SD5 ready.

Hey guys,

by CPU/GPU Engine, Wes means whether you are using SSE2 (CPU) as your Engine or DirectX/OpenGL (GPU).
You can change the Engine by pressing F9 or going to Tools -> Switch Engine.

There is no limitation between the Pro and the Indie Version.

OK.
I use SSE2 and DX.
But it makes no difference what i use on my side. It is still wrong.

After a compledly fresh install of SD5 i get rid of that problem.
Now the sbsar works without problems in SD and SP.
Looks like on the install wents something wrong in the past.

Thanks to all for you time and help.
Cheers,
Malo
