Author Topic: Cinema 4D – incorrect normals when opening file  (Read 1010 times)


When I open a Cinema 4D file containing my Substance asset, it loads the normal map with the wrong gamma (too bright). I can fix the normals temporarily by reloading the asset, but it will be wrong again when I next open the file. Is there any way to fix this?

I don’t have this problem with other assets (e.g. Upholstery Generator from, so I suspect that it is something to do with the way I’ve set up my Substance Designer file. At the moment I am not explicitly setting a colour space for each generated map, but perhaps I should?
