how many cores does it use SP?

Good afternoon. I'm building a new computer for SP. And I need help.
Is the CPU or GPU used for computing?
Is one or more cores used to run in SP?

P.S. not for IRAY rendering!

Painter will use whatever is available but most of the computing is done on the GPU.
Painter will not take advantage of multi-GPU though.
