Author Topic: Maya to Substance Layer Help  (Read 521 times)

Been wanting to get better at painting in substance and I noticed there was a way to make individual parts of the model disappear with the help of Layers, but when I do the normal method of UV it all comes over in one Layer and the videos I've found haven't been very helpful. Can someone help me out here?

The only way you can hide parts of the mesh is to break them up into texture sets by using MAT IDs, then if you want you can merge them together after.

The layer system in Painter will hide texture layers, not the actual mesh.

Also the opacity trick to actually hide something will still provide a collision box when painting so it truly isn't gone, but this can work if you want to render in IRAY without showing something.
I teach people how to use Substance Painter. :)
